Jedrick posted:Wow thanks guys, wasn't expecting anyone to figure that out so quick. Yeah, it appears to be a pretty decent amp from the limited reviews. They all seem to like it. quote:I have no desire to replace it with anything in particular. The only other 400 that I have ever seen was used by the great jazz guitarist Sonny Grenwich, from Montreal. I saw him play an Ibanez hollow-body through it on two occasions. He got amazing sounds out of it. You can see a glimpse of it at the 4:57 mark here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0oaYy5RJ8aY Philthy fucked around with this message at 23:22 on Dec 30, 2010 |

The Bananana posted:Hey, I'm thinking about grabbing a VOX AC30C2 30W amp. What are the odds I can haggle with the folks at Guitar center? Anyone here think I'd have any luck if I showed up with cash and tried to work them down off the list price of $999? From everything I've read, you should be able to get 10-15% off anything if you ask them for it. This weekend they are having a 15% off sale, go in and say you want one because you heard of the sale and need a new amp. Virtually every brand is excluded from the sale in the fine print, but I think that is just so people can't price match off them, and vice versa.

Looking for a new low watt tube amp head + cab that can do some bluesy dirt / rock tones at reasonably low volumes. Home playing. H&K Tubemeister 18 is at the top of my list (And price range) right now despite the dumb name and dumb blue glow. Others I've been looking at: Egnater Tweaker Carvin Vintage 16 Anything else I should consider or shouldn't bother with? Not familiar with all the boutique basement amps, either. I wouldn't be opposed to checking them out so long as there isn't a five year wait list or something. Someone on craigslist is selling a Classic 30, but I heard those don't get much break up until they're incredibly loud. Philthy fucked around with this message at 07:08 on Jan 12, 2012 |

Wark Say posted:Hell, Solid State is pretty good for cleans as well! My 2nd favorite amp for cleans is a Roland Jazz Chorus and, AFAIK, they've always been both solid state and take a beating quite well. What's your first? Cuz the cleans I hear off those JCs gives me gas.

Stoner/sludge/doom are awesome. I love how the genre progressed into this because sometimes you want some metal, but dont really want to throw up the horns because gently caress, you're tired. So tired.

The Fender Mustangs put out great sound. I wouldn't dismiss them at all. I wouldn't get below the 40 because the 40 and above have all the digital controls on the amp itself. It's the ones below it that you'll want to use the app for. I have the original Mustang III and I wouldn't ever consider selling it. If it dies, the GT100 (It has the midrange knob controls that the 40 lacks as well as FX loop) would be bought immediately.
