I loaned my brother some cash recently, and he gave me his ex's engagement ring, and a pair of Movados as collateral. The watches look exactly like this, but with a dark blue face, and one without the diamond surround. http://blog.ryaneagle.com/pictures/diamond-movado.jpg His reciepts show that he paid around double what he owes me for the lot, so I figured at the time that it was a decent collateral. You do what you do for family, but this thread has convinced me that I'm basically out a few grand if he can't pay me back.
