Indolent Bastard posted:Film maker Kevin Smith; some hate him some love him, try his podcast and see which camp you are in. I listened to a few of these back when I was first getting into podcasts. They're pretty atrocious at times, and the ones with his wife are unbearable. I think I'd rather double date with Ian Huntley and Maxine Carr than those two. Basically, if you want to listen to a really, really fat guy talk about loving his odd-looking wife, give this a bash. I'm currently powering through the back issues of the Collings and Herrin podcast at work, go through two or three a day. Here are all the links and things... http://www.comedy.co.uk/podcasts/collingsherrin/ And here's the podcasts wikipedia entry... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collings_and_Herrin_%28podcast%29 It's a British podcast, by Comedian Richard Herring and Broadcaster Andrew Collins, which is supposed to look at the news of the week and such, but from the twenty or so episodes I've listened to so far, they rarely actually get to the news, preferring to just dick about and talk about whatever takes their fancy. It was voted best podcast a few times and that. Tears In A Vial fucked around with this message at 17:00 on Aug 4, 2010 |

Indolent Bastard posted:Yeah it can be hit and miss (especially with guest hosts like his wife, daughter or mother) but, give a few of them a try as you might get a rotten one at first. If you still don't like it, try one of the other podcasts in the OP. I thought the one with his daughter was adorable, but the best ones -- in my mind -- are the ones with Walt Flannigan; not because Scott Mosier isn't good, more that Kevin Smith seems to take more of a back seat when he has a guest on. When it's just Kevin and Scott, Kevin talks, almost without pause, about about how much he likes to gently caress for like an hour and it does my head in.

As I said earlier in the thread, the funniest part about Smodcast was Walt. The episodes where he talks about the flea market were classics. I'll definitely check out the ones where he interviews the sellers.
