You have to listen to The Best Show on WFMU. You just have to. It's the best comedy podcast out there.

I'm a guest comedian this week on the Maximum Fun podcast International Waters. It's a game show where Jesse Thorn quizzes US & UK comedians about each other's pop culture. http://www.maximumfun.org/international-waters/international-waters-episode-6-half-fictional-fluffy-cat-rabbits

Apparently, Gallagher will be on the final episode of the Paul Goebel Show, recorded live at Bridgetown.

caligulamprey posted:And that's why Walking the Room stunt-casting him into an appearance is going to be so very, very glorious. I think every comedian who's booked Gallagher at Bridgetown is gonna try and make news with him. There's a lot of attention to gain if Gallagher does something crazy on your podcast or show, and nothing to lose, as you'll never look like a bigger rear end in a top hat than a homophobic racist. If Paul Goebel gets to him first, he may split Bridgetown entirely halfway through the taping.

I worked across the hall from that Shaq internet show, and the people running that show were giant dicks. I know Sean got a gig writing for The Ben Show, like, immediately after that Shaq show. I'm sure he's way better off.

I can't even believe how nice everyone is being about my appearance on this show. Thank you, it really means a lot. They're two of my favorite people, and it was so surreal to be sitting in that studio talking to two of the funniest people in LA. If you liked the episode, all I ask is that you let them know. Hey, maybe they'll have me back!

Hey, if you're a regular MaxFun listener, next week is MaxFun week, which is a celebration of all the network's shows and comedians. I'm writing a bunch of very obscure MaxFun jokes and topics for a special International Waters. Anyone have any favorite inside jokes, references, or even old MaxFun segments I can talk about? For example, I pitched us doing a "Hulk Hogan News" question for our news roundup, and we're gonna do something with JJGO's "Straight Talk For Teens."

Mr. Squishy posted:That UCB improv is a bag of tricks with no depth to it. He said that to them on their podcast? He had to just be kidding around, even he's not dumb enough to make fun of them on their own show, right? A lot of people say that about UCB. I was in a class with Matt Walsh once and he was like, "OK, everyone try and do a scene the Second City way. Get out there, establish your relationship, and organically build a scene." Then after everyone went he said, "OK, now go out there and do it the UCB way -- jump on the first funny thing that happens and make the whole scene about that." And after we were all done he went, "See, they're both pretty much the same thing, only our way is a lot faster." DangerDummy! posted:Tom made a crabby comment about Monk being a punchline on SNL a few weeks ago. I'm sure it was nothing, but what was he referring to? He made a similar comment about a Monk joke on 30 Rock. God dammit do I love Monk. I wish it was still on Netflix. I watched like all 120 episodes in a single month, it's just so entertaining. There's even an episode written by Wurster where Monk becomes a crazy artist. Asterios fucked around with this message at 15:01 on May 29, 2015 |

He pissed off one of my teammates so immensely with some super pretentious bullshit that I still can't mention Razowsky in my friends presence without him getting bent out of shape. I also didn't appreciate his teaching. He was super high on himself. Hah! Yeah that's him. He's very old school Second City. I thought he was a good teacher but I know he really pisses people off. Andy Daly was like, the best teacher I ever had. If only he wasn't so famous and talented he would still be teaching!

King Lou posted:As I've mentioned once before on this forum, Besser took offense to a sketch show my friend was doing and basically said that if you wanted to perform in my friends show you were barred from performing at the UCB. A ton of sycophants stopped talking to my friend and stopped performing at his theater. It basically broke his heart and he quit comedy within the year. The whole scene turned their back on him. And the real thing was that Besser just basically did it while he was high. Threw down this massive bomb and then never came back to discuss it. Just let his lap dogs do all the gnashing if teeth. Oh god was this the Saturday Night Rewritten thing?
