nemoulette posted:They've had exactly one guest host so far, which was Seth's mom which was really, really funny. As people say in this thread, getting to know them really is the greatest reward in a way. Jonathan is extremely upfront about basically everything in his life and past, but Seth seems really private in an odd way, yet you come to know the fact through his manners that the guy is pretty much loving nuts. It's really odd but I guess when you've listened to 230 or so hour-long episodes, (most of them 4-5 times, I hardly listened to anything else, music included), that's what you get. Yeah, Seth just kind of hinting at the fact that he eats at some restaurant once a week and has never said a word there, but never (to my knowledge) expanding on it, is hilarious. UYD has evolved into my favorite podcast by far. You Look Nice Today is pretty good, but either my itunes isn't updating it anymore or they've only done like 2 episodes this entire year. I enjoy Sick and Wrong too. edit: One of my favorite segments of UYD on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/user/dirtysoufballer69#p/u/19/Vbh-7bM2yJk Combo fucked around with this message at 04:45 on Aug 23, 2010 |

I think the episode of UYD that really clinched it for me was 186. I had been listening for about a month at that point and enjoyed it, but the segment about the Sex Degrees of Separation instantly turned me into a diehard. I remember playing it and another episode on a 3 hour drive to my mom's place for Thanksgiving, and my wife loved it too. She isn't at a computer all day at work so she doesn't get to listen as much as I do, but she catches up when she can.

nemoulette posted:The latest episode of the Joe Rogan podcast made my realize one thing: While Joey Diaz is very, very funny, Joe Rogan impersonating Joey Diaz is even funnier. He does it so well, too. I just started listening to that podcast this past week but I really enjoy it. I've listened to the most recent 5 episodes or something though and he does seem to cover almost the exact same topics with every guest he has. They branch off here and there but he has a couple of the same few talking points. Him and Joey or Ari Shaffir are really good though. Redban tries way too hard I think.

bananasinpajamas posted:Y'all should start a UYD thread. Namely to get rid of posts like this. Jesus Christ, we get it, there is literally nothing as good as UYD. This thread is like 50/50 UYD and CDR, I don't know what you're complaining about. As far as enjoying other podcasts, UYD is good and all that but it doesn't stop me from enjoying anything else, that's silly. I'm a fan of Joe Rogan's podcast, You Look Nice Today (more episodes please god drat), How Did This Get Made, etc.

Not that I could get a "pornstar 10" but being a pornstar does take some points off the total score I would say. I can now sleep slightly better knowing redban isn't that amazing with the ladies. It also explains why every girlfriend he has had seems to be insane.

bananasinpajamas posted:Yeah, it's more posts like this that I sorta went off on the UYD love. It's not enough to just praise UYD, but to also bash all the other podcasts people like around here. I don't think anyone cares at all if you talk at length about UYD, it's the superiority complex that's pretty unbearable. I think you take podcasting pretty seriously.

HaterBaby posted:Oh, did you have a problem reading that post? He was talking about how seriously OTHER people take that podcast, which is true. We have one thread devoted to all comedy podcasts, but Uhh Yeah Dude fans have an entire forum dedicated to it and a wiki describing every anecdote and news item "Jah" and Seth mention, no matter how briefly. To be fair I think that wiki is just maintained by one spergy dude, I don't know really. And I haven't read their forums. I guess I don't get the strong hate from one side or the other. I like UYD and I don't like CDR but I don't care if other people do, or if they discuss it here.

Geekslinger posted:More and more comedians are realizing it is a perfect platform for them to explore their talent as well as selling more merch and shows. Yeah, pretty sure all Rogan does now is mention where he's going to be on his podcast and post on twitter, I don't think he does much morning radio to get the word out or anything like that anymore.

I knew a guy in high school that matches up with Redban so precisely, I would swear it was him if Redban wasn't 10+ years too old(I'm guessing, I can't find his age.) Rogan's spot on when he calls him a manchild. Redban is like 36 or 37. He sounds and acts like a 14 year old though.

A good listen for people that like him from Rogan and wonder what he's about. This is pretty good. Hard to follow at some points because of the way Joey tells stories but really interesting.

And I don't think you need to be a stoner to enjoy the episodes with Duncan or Bryan Callen...I'm not, and Callen is my favorite guest by far.

A PRIZED MULE! posted:No, I totally agree that Rogan said some iffy poo poo, but it was a lot more benign than Brian going loving crazy over it. In particular the "I pretended to be asleep so my girlfriend didn't think I was gay!" was bizarre. As connected to the porn business as he claims to be you'd think he'd be more tolerant. I'm listening to this episode now, and that discussion was painful. But now I'm at a point in the discussion where Joe doesn't believe most companies drug test you to get hired. I've been piss tested for literally every job I've ever had.

MC_ posted:I didn't think the latest Rogan with Daniel Pinchbeck was that bad. He didn't get too new agey and it was just a lot of back and forth between him and Joe about how the world at this point is pretty hosed and unsustainable. I particularly liked how Pinchbeck didn't interest Redban, so for most of the show he didn't say anything. However, when he did speak it was utter trash and Joe seemed pretty embarrassed by what he was saying. Episodes where Redban shuts the hell up are the best. Every once in a while he'll just sit back and let Joe and the guest talk poo poo or tell stories.

I think a club owner or something called Rogan and the group he was travelling with (Redban, Diaz, etc) on the comedy circuit the death squad at one time, so they just kept that name. But yes, its still lame.

SKULE123 posted:Can someone post an explanation of what the different DeathSquad podcasts are? The episode descriptions don't really say much. I think its just different groups of people (and Redban, always Redban) talking about whatever. All I really know is Skeptic Tank is him and Ari and a guest talking about one topic the whole time. I don't listen to any of the others because I can only take so much of Redban.
