Latest episode of the Joe Rogan experience made me realize how much I missed Tom Green. I remember totally digging on his show way back when on Mtv. I know he has an internet show that he's been doing but I can't wait for him to start podcasting.

Agreed. That was a really cool interview (especially Brian riding Tom's dick). It's great to hear him speak seriously about things, but whenever I hear his voice I just start cracking up. It's almost like I could listen to a Tom Green 911 call after a car accident and I'd be laughing my rear end off.

While The Field Negro Guide to Arts and Culture with Vernon Reid and W. Kamau Bell is only on it's third ep and comes out rather sporadically, it's a pretty good show. I'd never think that I'd be listening to a talk show by the guy from Living Colour and really digging it.

See You Next Tuesday keeps getting better and better. Troy's really honing his craft. Walking the Room is another newer show that is starting to hit it's stride.

The Lavender Hour with Duncan Trussell (The guy telling the story about Tesla and Edison on "Drunk History") is really good if you're into that whole weird metaphysical/conspiracy/intellectual minutae type deal that Joe Rogan delves into a lot. Duncan and his girl comedian Natasha Leggero are pretty funny.

If you haven't seen it yet, go watch: Drunk History is AMAZING!

Actually I would say that he gets really pissed when the guests sort of derail the show. His defense is to kind of flip out, which usually makes whoever is doing it continue to do it as a response to his flipping out. Non-productive.

Don't get me wrong. I love DLM and Doug, and if anything I hate that he's known as a "weed comedian". I think he's pretty quick and his best material has nothing to do with weed.

A new one I've been checking out is The Podcast Eating Contest. They don't have a set format yet, and it's just three dudes talking, but they're pretty funny. If they hit their stride they could be amazing.

It sounds silly, but I was laughing so hard at their show today on the bus that I had to go into a laugh seizure rather than laugh so loud as to disturb people. They're kind of an overly silly and absurd UYD.

Were people saying that Mike Birbiglia was boring on Nerdist? Because I'm really enjoying this show. Even though he does talk like he just downed a bottle of Quaaludes.

I like Birbiglia a lot, but I will say it was very slow. It doesn't help that Hardwick always seems really shower adoration on most of his guests, which isn't a bad thing in and of itself, but it tends to put the guests into "Oh, thank you so much" mode which stifles the conversation sometimes.

Cast Iron Brick posted:

The entire episode they just grabbed bits from their show. It was embarrassing.

I know what you mean, but generating new material at such a fast rate is really hard for most people. For example, how many top-tier comedians working today have you heard go on and on about how amazing they think it is that Louis C.K. will abandon his old material and come out with a new hour EVERY YEAR? Some people are really quick in a conversation, (oddly enough I've been taken aback at how sharp and funny non-comedian Jon Hamm is) but if you're working cold then most people will go with what they know (or are touring on). Plus everybody has their standby bits that they can bust out anytime (or what Pardo calls "The Skeleton").

E: I guess a lot of it is a product of our technology. Now in a given week you could hear a comedian on five different podcasts, late night TV, etc. whereas back in the day you might see a comic a few times a year and you might not know they're doing the same stuff.
