Yuncemil posted:My wife and I have been wracking our brains about a TV show we used to watch. From what we can remember, it was a reality TV show that probably aired around the 1990s/2000. It was on one of two channels we got here at the same time, so we are thinking ABC or CBS. It followed 3 couples who were given a house that they had to completely redecorate. They had to makeover one room a week and it had to be the same for all of them (e.g. one week they all had to do the dining room). There was a young newlywed couple who bought a puppy and everyone got annoyed because people thought they were just doing it for votes. Was it The Block? I watched both the Aussie & US versions on HGTV in Canada, but damned if I can't find a thing about the US version on the google.

Very Strange Things posted:I thought it was something I just was ... failing to grasp. (puts on sunglasses, yeah, etc.) As someone married to a bloody mick, I can tell you two things: If I call him that, he will laugh and call me a raping, pillaging Viking. If anyone else, including drinking buddies, would dare to call him that to his face, his Irish would be out in full force and the offender would wake up on the floor. I would err on the side of caution here.

Vestral posted:I'm trying to remember a website I found maybe a year ago. It was a site where people contributed their stories of how much it cost for a healthcare treatment, what the treatment was, and where they lived. It had people's personal stories from all around the world, from paying 500,000 for an operation, to people who paid $0 for a heart transplant. It wasn't politically minded, at least on the outside, it was a site to show stories from whoever contributed to it. I might not be explaining it well, but does anyone know the site I mean? I'm pretty sure I came across it here in a thread, possibly the thread had something to do with lovely healthcare in the US and to share stories to give anyone who read the site an idea what things could cost if they lived elsewhere. http://www.pluralofanecdote.com/
