Yeah, knocking out both of those shows (or Price is Right!) in an hour is the point, it’s good post-work TV to stick on during dinner that doesn’t drag and eat up the entire night.

For those who’ve only seen the UK Jeopardy, this is how quickly the US one moves. These are experienced players which helps, but I swear half this year has been a single tournament full of good players so this is kind of how a regular game works now. Its quick.

Hoping this isn’t geoblocked to just the US.

Something is up with tonight’s episode of Traitors. When Anthony picks up his slate and reads the name he picked, it’s been superimposed on the slate. Maybe it got smudged or something and they didn’t pick up on it during filming, but it’s definitely been covered up.

Yeah, Ant went in with the best theory and should’ve pushed it harder - that Meg was already on the chopping block so there was absolutely zero reason for her to be murdered, and eliminated one of the people who generated the most prizefund. Like who cares if Jonny was a traitor, vote him out once he’s helped lock in a fortune.

(Traitors) Paul’s biggest mistake was not murdering Jas super early on. Everyone says it would’ve instantly brought suspicion on him if he did, but eh I’m not entirely convinced the faithful actually would’ve put it together. You could probably murder every person who named you at the previous round table, and the next day they’d banish someone for walking in a funny way once

The wink in the car was loving gold.

Such a great week of episodes, has me way more enthusiastic for this series now.

Man, Harry’s plan would be so perfect if he didn’t say they put Diane ‘in her place’ with such a poo poo eating grin. And he has no idea.

I can’t believe how the direction I was expecting following Fridays episode is now completely out the bag. It’s amazing how so much can change in just an episode.

also with the whole Andrew/Ross thing, is that the first time someone has told a lie about another player? I’ve been waiting for that for so long! Like two traitors could say they walked in on a faithful acting suspicious with someone who’s since been outed as a Traitor, and get them banished based on how easy it is to lead people.

Traitors bit of a calm before the storm episode as expected, hoping tomorrow’s is a big finale or all the fun was last week. Murdering Zack over Jas was a mistake, but I’m not sure Jas has the ability to have people turn against Harry and I don’t think they’ll be able to get them both out anyway. Think this is gonna be a W for team Traitor, but we’ll see!

E: dont know why Harry didn’t take the £7k, just justify it by saying it’s likely only 1-2K out of the final winners pockets as it’s likely to be shared and it’s impossible to say if they get the traitors out anyway. Dont think that decision would ever be used against someone.

Traitors

It does make me wonder how much of the game is dictated by the producers/Claudia - stopping the traitors from murdering last night was clearly designed so they couldn't go into the final episode on even numbers and therefore an advantage..

yeah I’m sure they have a system that tells them exactly what needs to happen at every step based on how many traitors/faithful remain to ensure the game remains playable. As for whether they push for a recruitment, possible and we know that they put the mechanism in that kills an approached recruit if they decline the offer when it’s needed

They do mix it up a little bit, sometimes 2 people will come in the last batch maybe including a traitor, s1 definitely showed a pattern that should’ve been identified by the players. It should tell them at least who else might’ve been on the chopping block (they can also do clever editing to change the broadcast order mind).

Everyone involved, except Evie who didn’t really have a leg to stand on so was helpless, approached the finale in the worst possible way and made such dumb moves that it quite incredibly canceled each others out and made for good tv. A solid end, deserved winner.

Loved traitors s2 so much we’ve gone back to start s1 as we missed it at the time. Interesting to see it as a ‘new’ concept, and having things clearly explained to us. Absolutely no way everyone learns one another’s name in the, what, one day before they go to banishing!

At that early stage I’d definitely just be naming people who weren’t very good at the tasks, or led a charge to get someone who is good at the tasks but a faithful banished. There’s no imperative to get traitors out that early anyway, so just do what you can to preserve yourself.

They don't even need to do that - suppose Andrew had been there in place of Jaz at the end. At that point Harry votes game over again, so does Mollie,

thinking about it, it’s kinda crazy that Evie was a dead woman walking going into the finale. Everyone knew she would be offed…

Except 2 of them knew she wasn’t a traitor because they were a traitor, 1 of them was Evie herself so knew she wasn’t a traitor, 1 of them had a deep held theory that it was Harry that was the traitor, and one of them was Mollie. Despite being a minority at that point, traitors truly ran that first round and that’s where Jaz should’ve gone harder when the numbers were on his side, because at that point they were literally running a Zach theory from days ago and Evie defended herself brilliantly the day before.

Haven’t had chance to give Gladiators a proper try yet, but really glad they leaned into the ‘let’s do everything the same as the 90s’ aspect, from logos and music to presumably the same arena.

One thing that always shocked me is how much bigger it was than US Gladiators, which was filmed in front of approximately 14 people.

I don’t suppose anyone in here has any tv listings from the 90s to hand? I’m doing one of my dumb projects where I’m trying to recreate a weeks worth of TV I grew up with on my Plex server using scheduling software (I’ve got other channels running already, but this will easily be my most complex one) and I’m trying to find original air times for shows. TVRB has me covered for BBC and ITV nicely, but it’s spotty for C4 and pretty barren for Sky One which is the other source I’m using.

A couple of photos of some pages would be super useful. I’m being loose with accuracy to a degree, but the more knowledge I have the better!

And yes, I’m including neighbours in the classic ‘twice a day’ airing configuration. Now to add far too many 90s episodes of it to my server…

E2: and they’ve uploaded a handful of relevant issues.

In case anyone was curious about the schedules I was building up for my dumb pseudo 'all encompassing 90s UK TV station' that's comprised of stuff I can get my hands on, which means sadly leaving a lot of great/awful (but great) stuff out...

Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday

It's impossible to build something that totally accurately matches original first run air dates, so did my best to match up the ones that came to mind the most to me (ie Red Dwarf on Thursdays), do a few 'I would've been taping ITV while watching BBC then watch that tape during the boring 9 oclock news' things, and just other creative fixes.

The plan is to try and get over say 80% of 'no repeats' content for a year of 'broadcasting', so some time slots get switched out when a show only has say 12 episodes. Luckily with the first series of Home & Away online and people with huge playlists of Neighbours episodes at variably lovely quality there's some daily time slots eaten up nicely.

Think I managed to get the right feeling for where things would've been, the weekday morning slots are mostly dominated by school TV over the years (mainly C4, which changes year from Wednesday to Friday) and what I've been able to assemble/pretend that TV:AM/WAC had as their kids output for Monday. Saturday afternoon was always a good old shiftiest of things like Thunder in Paradise and Robocop, plus stalwarts like A-Team and Baywatch that just kept going.

Didn't want to rely on movies too much (despite that's what real TV did a huge amount from looking through listings), but did a Saturday Night premiere, a C4 late night movie for things like horror and martial arts movies, and of course - the infamous Channel 5 late night Friday soft porn slot.

Overnights were tricky as there's a lot of disposable TV from that era that just isn't available online, and for good reason, so had to use satellite reruns a bit more there and some live US sports that would broadcast at those times.

Next step is filling the gaps in my collection for episodes I don't have, then I'll go about building the commercials and the most fun/difficult - building idents for my fake station.

Anyone enjoying the nostalgia around Saturday morning TV should check out Saturday Morning All Star Hits on Netflix, which is a great satire of the format, despite being American where things were done a bit differently.

It is a shame the format is essentially dead now. Between that and TOTP, it’s like they’re saying everything I remember enjoying about my youth was a waste of time!

Once again, I am mad about TV quiz shows.

25% question from 1% Club on Saturday, so a question they say 3/4 of people in the UK should get wrong, thus I would expect some trickery afoot.

Answer:

I call bullshit.

“The same number of toes on your right foot as your left hand” should be 0 - you don’t have any toes on your left hand. If this isn’t the gotcha and the wording was correct, the question is literally just asking you to add 4 numbers together, where’s the difficulty there?
