I'm with you. If Charlie Brown loses a shoe when he gets hit with a baseball, I'm pretty sure Jones loses every article of clothing from a bomb.

But her clothes are made from the same material as She-Hulk's costume.

I like how we're analyzing Jones when there's a loving Coyote that steals the moon, who lives on the other side of a haunted river which is guarded by a ghost that can kill psychopomps.

That wasn't sarcasm, I just love this comic so drat much.

Hey guys I heard Jones is solid c/d?

I think the thing with Coyote is that you mentally put him in the box labelled 'mythical god' and so anything he does is just magic. Steals the moon? Plucks memories out of a mind? Transforms into a little green kid? Sure, whatever, he's a mythical god.

Jones looks human, so you sort of want to compare her to humans and start asking questions and poking and prodding to see what happens. Even though (as far as we know) she is probably in a similar class of being to Coyote, she feels more like one of us than one of them.

Yeah, I get that. I was just idly musing about elements I love that all happen to be in the same strip.

To me, Jones is the bridge between the Court and the Forest (besides... the actual bridge). She's equally magical and scientific/observational, at least in my interpretation.

I want a Gunnerkrigg cartoon series like there's no freakin' tomorrow, because I want to hear all these characters speak. I wonder if Jones would sound like a female Mr. Freeze.

I'm not sure if I'm hoping or fearing that you are referring to the Mr. Freeze that is portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenneger.

I would probably watch it, regardless.

I of course meant the late, great Michael Ansara.

Although Jones spouting off stone-themed puns and one liners in Arnold's voice would make my day.

I remember watching it once or twice as a kid and I didn't even like it, then.

I may have been distracted by the contest I was having in my brain regarding which of the two main characters had the bigger forehead, though.

Hey, if you burned your family to death, assuming you loved them, would you want your immortal spirit dicking around on Earth, which would remind you of said family, all the while having ghost-regrets?

Why did Mort cross into the ether?
He was sick of having Ghost Traumatic Stress Disorder. :ghost:

Man, what's with all the mopiness about Mort? His death was fairly peaceful and content by fictional standards. Compare that to, say, Eightfold from Paranatural, whose departure felt way more depressing to me, even with the latter's relative lack of screen time.

Mort's been my favorite character since the chapter introducing him. I have a soft spot for comic-relief characters, and Tom was kind enough to flesh him out (even though he's a ghost, haha.) His lame jokes endeared him to me, as did the notion that all of his friends got older and moved on while he couldn't. Mort was stuck for the longest time, but made the best of a bad situation, made a few friends and eventually chose to move on. I'm glad knowing that my favorite character got what is probably the nicest death we'll see in the entire story.

All that said, I can understand people not being sad that a ghost died.
