Call Telus and tell them you're upset that you can't get the promo offers. As long as you haven't had one of the "gifts" in the past and have a good payment history with them they'll probably get it for you.

What's the chance they prorate my bill and give me the rest of the money back?

Call them, say you want to cancel, when you talk to the cancellation department explain your frustration about the charges. If they still refuse, request to speak with a supervisor and they will almost definitely do it for you.

I've heard that Telus can and will start differentiating between IPTV and regular traffic.

This is true. Caps aren't being enforced right now but it is being tested in Prince George and assuming they don't lose half their customers there over this they'll roll it out to everyone.

I found out something interesting with Bell pricing in my area, not sure if it's true elsewhere. They get away with price increases as they are guaranteeing a certain discount and not the base price. They can raise the base price all they want. gently caress Bell.

Telus does that too. I assume Shaw does as well.

Telus did the same starting with November billing.

Even then Telus doesn't care if you exceed the bandwith allocation. Or if you're in ETTH/FTTH they literally don't track your bandwidth usage.

This is changing soon. I think by end of March Alberta and BC customers will be charged for going over. You'll be able to pay $10 extra a month or something to have unlimited bandwidth. They track bandwidth usage already for everyone.

if you let Telus cancel your service with another provider they give you like $100 too

They already started charging in some parts of BC starting at the end of March.

This is actually the opposite of true, their fiber costs less with the plans they're offering than what they're charging for the adsl.

its weird hearing about problems with amazons delivery guys. ive never had a problem with them. some dude rings my doorbell and leaves the package either in my mailbox or in the screen door and is usually back in his car before i even get to the door.

they said they would transfer me and then dropped the call.

they do this because transferring impacts their metrics negatively.

Then when I did finally get through to renew it, they sent a tech out as if it was a fresh install.

they do this because retention has to get sales for their metrics. youre lucky you had an honest tech, they often say you need the new stuff to get the deal because the techs get nothing and it counts against their metrics if they have to cancel a job.

So I got to call again!

you should check your account online and make sure theres only one service. if it wasnt cancelled right youll get charged for it and itll likely be a pain in the rear end to get the credit because - you guessed it - giving credits negatively effects metrics
