Powershift posted:In red deer at least, tekksavvy isn't available in either form, rogers isn't available, the highest plan telus offers is 10mbps and 125gb cap for $50/month and $2/gb over. As far as I understand, telus doesn't have the infrastructure to even monitor bandwidth usage per customer, so while they may advertise data usage limits, they don't really enforce them. I'm on shaw in calgary. The moment I see a charge for data usage on my bill I'm gonna give shaw a call, spread my butt cheeks wide open and give them so much poo poo for implementing UBB. After which I will cancel my plan and switch to telus.

Another thing to make note of is how much content a GB is truly worth. For example: How much media (for instance, porn) could you have in 1998 with 1GB of space? Well considering the average image was probably 600x400 and the average video was 64kbps, quite a bit. So probably a couple dozen videos, and over a thousand photos. Today, most images are in the 1000's of pixels when it comes to resolution, and HD video content can be over 400kbps. So with 1GB of space, you'll get maybe 2 videos, and a couple hundred photos. So over time, that $2 you spend on that 1GB isn't going to go as far as it did before. The days of posting threads like I went to a bikini convention [56K Warning] will now be I went to a bikini convention [Canada Warning] loving pathetic.

Anyone have experience with 100mbps uploads that shaw now is offering? I know from experience back when they offered 10mbps uploads that if someone saturated the upload on the connection it would kill the connection quality for everybody (lost packets, high ping, etc.). Still wondering if that is the case.
