FLX posted:Wow! I didn't know Werkbench "werked" like that! I guess I'll check it out as well. I am a little late to the party on this but that Alesis iO dock like the one used in this video is pretty cool looking. There is no way in hell I would ever pay what they are asking for it though since it is basically useless if I buy a new iPad. I have been looking for something for plugging my guitar and maybe my koassilator, but the cables you find seem to use the port so you can't charge or they use the 1/8" jack which seems limited.

CAT rear end now!!! posted:Do you need to charge all the time? The iPads have astonishingly good battery life even if you're running multiple music apps simultaneously. I guess not, but if you are in the middle of using it and your battery is low you either have to stop playing or risk running out of juice. EDIT: I keep forgetting I own a Zoom H4N. I really should just get a USB adapter for my iOS devices and plug that in. Since it works as a USB audio interface that would work right? iGot an iRig Pro mainly for using with electric guitar. It unlocks a couple pedals and amps in the free amplitube so I messed with that a bit. I also played around with garage band for a while and the amp/pedals in that aren't too bad for what I paid for it (zero dollars). It looks like with the PRO model you can use the midi at the same time as the other input so you can control the pedals in amplitube using a midi controller while playing which sounds kinda handy. I've got an M-Audio 25 key keyboard around somewhere I could play around with. I have animoog and maybe some other stuff that would work with. Any other cool software I should check out?

Jam synth is really cool. It turns an audio source into midi to pipe through a synth.

BIAS is on sale for half price, but it bugs me that they have a separate iPhone and iPad version. If the iPhone one was half the price it would make sense, but they are both normally $20. The JamUp Pro XT app is also on sale, but that works on both.

Another thing on sale: Loopy and Loopy HD are half off. Just picked up BIAS Amps, Loopy HD, and Audiobus (not on sale, but it seems pretty essential and awesome)

Feenix posted:What the gently caress... I don't know, I just had it marked as wanted and set up an alert for price a long while back and paid $10 at the last sale. It looks like all their stuff is $10 off, so I guess they don't use percentages to do their sales.

For the guitar people... Amplitube for iPhone and iPad is free this week. I haven't been using the Free version much since I got the Positive Grid stuff (Still haven't tried the effects though). I got JamUp when it was on sale, and have alerts set up to know when that happens. If you have an iRig Amplitube Free version unlocks some stuff for you when you sign in, so I don't know what more the full version gives you. There always seems to be more IAP for these things.

I think I might pick up a couple of the $5 gadgets on sale, and the new Kamata one before its too late. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDmgRv3G5-Q I added the Korg NanoKey Studio bluetooth midi controller to my amazon wishlist. Maybe I'll get lucky and someone will buy me it for my upcoming birthday. If not I'll buy it myself, because I think it will make using gadget even more fun.

derekcooper posted:I've found a few on YouTube that go over what some of the gadgets do but really playing around is the only thing that's helped me. I don't remember what videos I watched when I first got it, but look for the ones that are like song building tutorial. There are a few out there that walk you through how to build a song which will teach you more about how to construct something useful and you can learn the gadgets themselves by playing around or other videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-m4lLNyRYCU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxMePcSzAas https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8G0ANkTlZw

Got the nanoKey studio for my birthday and its pretty drat cool. Plop some AAA batteries and then you can pair the bluetooth right inside gadget and be controlling things right away. Kamata allows you to draw waveforms with the kaosspad which feels a lot nicer for some reason. The buttons that allow you to switch the functions around for the different parts of the controller seem to work well, even in other apps like animoog. You can switch the keyboard section to to scales on the "white" keys and then the "black" keys become chords, or you can make the rhythm pad play chords.

I picked up Arp Odyssey since its $10 off this month intro price and adds an extra gadget. I got it for the iPad but it is fun on iPhone if yo move into the pad mode cause you can play double thumb. Haven't learned how to use everything. Was wondering why you can't just choose from some presets for the arpeggiator notes but then realized it has some set up as part of the programs so you save it that way. 100 build in presets are pretty good starting point too.
