S/X Fic - Jealousy, Tattoos and Butterflies
Title : Jealousy, Tattoos and Butterflies
Pairing : Steven Gerrard/Xabi Alonso
Rating : PG13
Summary : Stevie is jealous of a certain Dane with tattoos.
Disclaimer : This is a story contrived from my imagination.
Warnings : Romance, fluff.
Feedbacks : I'd love to hear your feedback and comments. It keeps me going.
A/N : I am just reposting some of my old fics in this journal, so some of you may have read this before. And this story was written in 2007. And yes, I've been writing them for that long. :(

Plus, he's personally really popular in Asia (specifically China). The NBA also has a strong presence in countries like Australia, Brazil, and India, so it's not like he's soley an American phenomenon. The league are going to make a big push into Europe too, so we'll see how that works out.

Wait what?

Sport popularity in Australia goes:

AFL = NRL > Rugby = Cricket = Football > Netball = Basketball

The interest in basketball here is tiny to the point of it getting similar crowds to netball.

^^^ Edit: I can't answer any other country but basketball as a whole in australia had a media presence made up entirely of a 30 minute magazine show on a sunday morning for 2 years recently. NBA games are shown on FTA tv at about 10am in the morning iirc.

Could you break down the popularity of sports in other countries too? How about New Zealand?

New Zealand is the same as Australia but replace AFL with competitive sheep loving.

well chuck that is the thing, real men do not watch or play soccer.

When i was in college soccer was the game the queers played, while the real tough sportsmen booted up and played football and joined the wrestling team.

We would laugh at the soccer guys then and jeer at them from the stands shouting " queers, queers " we found it so amusing how they were so intrigued and into a game with zero skill and 100 % homosexual appeal, yet some of these guys claimed they were straight. when they celebrated they would jump on each other, groping and even kissing sometimes, you can see this in the pro game too. What straight man does that ?

The game itself is starting to take off here in certain states of america unfortunetly, and its a shame to see many young people decided to go onto the soccer field instead of getting down and dirty on the football field. Sad day for america if soccer ever becomes more popular than the great game of football. We wont have any soldiers going to battle then, only queers on the soccer field.

NFL football a national pride.

Why play a queer sport like soccer when you can be a real man, get dressed in a skintight unitard and grapple with other men.

The whole "hoof ball", "score from throw ins" stereotype is lazy and bullshit.

Stoke have genuinely world class players now. Robert Huth is a a 2-time Premier League Champion, and he's only 27, Salif Diao is a Ligue 1 winner, League Cup winner, and has played at the World Cup Finals, Jermain Pennant helped take Liverpool to the Champions League final in 2007, Ryan Shawcross is one of England's brightest prospects in defence, a never-say-die powerful defender, Matthew Upson, another England hero, who scored at the last World Cup and won the Premier League with Arsenal in 2002, Peter Crouch is one of the world's most prolific strikers at international level, he is a Championship and FA Cup winner, his goal ratio for England is simply stunning, Jonathan Woodgate is a national treasure, League Cup winner, and former Real Madrid heavyweight. When you mix all this success and prestige with the GOAT arms of Rory Delap, you have one of the finest, and most unique football sides since the Dutch masters of the 1970s.

Stoke are taking Europe by storm, just like The Beatles did in America. This is the era of Pulis, of the Potteries, of Stoke.

Do all soccer fans hate people like me? Read the following.

I grew up playing soccer all my life until high school, when my school didn't have a team. I grew up watching the MLS and I am still a supporter of my team, Chicago Fire. I am from America, and unfortunately never have been to another country. But here is the thing...
I never really followed soccer until high school. Sure, I went to Fire games, but I didn't know the players, other teams, or anything outside of the USA for that matter. It all changed in high school around 2008 when the Euro Cup was getting started. It was then that I started watching the qualifiers, and even Premier League was being played on ESPN. It was here that I picked my favorite player, Fernando Torres. I always loved the number 9, since Ante Razov was my favorite Fire player. Torres was everything I wanted to be as a forward in my soccer days, and he was good. So, I picked my favorite team in the Euro Cup: Spain. They won, and I erupted. I quickly asked for a #9 jersey for Christmas, and have rooted for them ever since. I watched every single World Cup game, even when me and my parents went to DisneyWorld, I found a little Irish pub to watch.
My question is: Am I a disgrace or traitor to US soccer if Spain is my favorite team? I understand the bandwagon comments, and while I am not a life-long supporter of Spain, I don't call myself "bandwagon". I just feel that Spain is my team, not the US national team. Can this be respected?

Please don't go digging through peoples post history from the old SAS EPL threads
