Kara no Kyoukai is supposedly finally coming out on BD in early 2011, and should look stunning. It, the Japanese release, will even have English subtitles. The downside is that it will cost something like $600 for 7 movies, if not more.

Good news! You don't have to pay $600. Bad news! It'll be $400.

ANN - Aniplex USA Adds Kara no Kyoukai - the Garden of sinners posted:

Aniplex of America announced on Monday that it will release ufotable's entire Kara no Kyoukai - the Garden of sinners film series in an English-subtitled Blu-ray Disc box in North America on February 8, 2011. The eight-disc box will include the seven theatrical chapters of the franchise plus the bonus Final Chapter that will be available for the first time in February. The online retailer Right Stuf will be the exclusive distributor.

The Japanese Blu-ray Disc box of the film series will ship less than a week earlier on February 2. Right Stuf will offer the North American version for US$398.98. (The Japanese release will sell for 52,500 yen or about US$620, although that is the suggested retail price before discounts.)

hahahaha.

Redline didn't get an actual theatrical release till October last year and it's still there. They're taking their time with it so it could be a while till they even give the DVD/BD a date, probably wont be till after theaters stop showing it.

So the rumor that Master Keaton, Borgman, Berserk and GPX Cyper Formula are getting BD box sets are true.

I'm really happy about Borgman being true because that was never released on DVD officially. I've wanted to watch it for a while now but all that's out there is the VHS rips.

The good thing is, is that the Blu-Ray format is a completely new license. So another company can just pick up Blu-Ray rights and sell it with no problems.
Because Japanese companies have just been throwing bluray contracts at licensors.

Somehow I doubt HD Cowboy Bebop is going to be out in the US any time soon.

gently caress that, where's Turn-A? (Ideon is cool obviously though.)
The Gundam blu-ray releases haven't actually done that well. Out side of SEED HD the best selling one was the Char's Counterattack half price edition. Not counting 00 because it came out when bluray was starting. The problem is that everything gundam got a DVD in the early 2000s then the popular series again in '07 then again everything in '10/'11 with the G-Selection DVD sets. Japan may be old Gundam'd out.

They're probably going to work though the BD sets the same way they did the G-Selection sets. Which is production order. So Victory, G, Wing, X then Turn A with the OVAs last.

So uh... 2014 at the earliest? Maybe.

Completely forgot about that. Welp. Whatever it'll be out when it's out. I still think it'll be the last of the TV series out.

They aired OVAs 01 and 02, the Universe series and the Tokyo series back to back on Toonami back in 2000.

The OVAs never really leave Tenchi's house for long the Universe series becomes more of a space adventure series.
