icantfindaname posted:I'm assuming there's no way to access a better quality master than that one? The King Records release might look slightly better just due to being 2 BDs instead of 1 (probably higher bitrate), but it's out of print, was $150 at release, and is still a Q-Tec upscale.

It's not just cropped, it also looks like poo poo. They did really heavy filtering to denoise and clean up the image and succeeded in destroying it.

a kitten posted:Anyone know if the upcoming release of Gatchaman:CROWDS has the redone final episode? There's a review on amazon's pre-order page claiming it does not, but I'm not sure where to look to try to confirm it.

Beef Waifu posted:Rightstuf actually asked Sentai and it was confirmed it does not have the redone final episode. Sentai posted:That particular episode, what people call the 'OVA episode,' belongs to someone else, not the original licensor that we did business with to acquire the 12 episode series. I can't say with absolute certainty that we won't get it in the future, but for now it is exclusive to Japan. How can they license 12 episodes on BD but be unable to license the director's cut? I imported the Japanese set and the director's cut disc has the exact same copyright notices printed on it that all the others do.

The English sub track of the Japanese BD release of Princess Mononoke is definitely not closed captioning, so anyone who hates that I guess can just import it

Ineffiable posted:Is the price difference in those disc densities actually significant? I mean I guess even at ten cents more, it really adds up over the whole production run.
