I cannot wait for an AMOLED monitor. But in the meantime, can I get anyone's opinion on this LG brand IPS display?

movax posted:Have no personal experience with it, but the specs look OK to me. IPS panel, excellent. It being 1920x1080 vs. 1920x1200 is your personal preference. You could do a quick price-check to see how low the Dell of comparable size is, I suppose, but I don't think you'll be disappointed with the LG display, especially if you're coming from a TN. I am actually coming from an old CRT that I love to death but must part with as it is starting to die. Thanks for the feedback, I will ordering it soon. Another question I have as i went looking at monitors in a brick and mortar store today, is that why is the viewing angle on LCD monitors so bad compared to LCD TVs it seems? I looked at various TVs from various angles and for the most part they looked good, but when going over to the monitors only the IPS monitor looked good from an extreme angle. Why is this? Just got this display in the mail today and I love it. Even though I haven't seen the Dell U2312HM in person, this one seems to be just as good at about $30 less.

gotly posted:Not to interrupt the Catleap discussion, but this is $199 this weekend. Less than $200 for a 23" 1900x1080 IPS monitor? Yes please! Damnit, I shoulda waited to buy mine. I love this monitor but the 2 things that I dislike about it are: 1) No HMDI input 2) Speakers in the monitor are pure crap (but i was expecting that as they are tiny hidden speakers) The screen is very matte (if you like that) and for the most part you cannot see the the matte finish interfere with the picture.

I am thinking about getting a new monitor for my mother who currently has a POS 17in 4:3 LCD and saw this cheap IPS monitor on newegg and am very tempted to get it. Any reasons why i shouldn't? (NOTE she has bad eyesight so anything with a resolution higher than this would probably be worse for her.)

I currently have a dell Dell U2419H as my main PC/gaming PC monitor and due to reasons, it needs to become my new home office monitor and I wanted to upgrade to something over 60hz for gaming instead of another dell such as the https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-ultrasharp-24-monitor-u2422h/apd/210-ayyv/monitors-monitor-accessories. I have 2 question regarding "gaming" 144hz monitors: 1) Are these 2 any good? I am leaning towards for gigabyte one possibly https://www.newegg.com/black-lg-ultragear-24gn650-b-24/p/N82E16824026176?Item=N82E16824026176 https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16824012041?Item=N82E16824012041 2) Why are these "better/faster/more Hz" monitors so much cheaper than high quality "office" type monitors that run at 60hz such as the above Dell or something like an HP elite display? Dr. Video Games 0031 posted:Both of these are fine. I haven't seen any thorough reviews of the Gigabyte one, but their IPS displays tend to have a good focus on value that doesn't compromise core performance, so I'd trust this one to be okay too. Thanks for the information. I ended up getting a GIGABYTE G27Q https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16824012015?Item=N82E16824012015 based on this thread and rtings.com as I should go to 1440p and its on sale for $290 now at newegg.
