I believe that while your frames can update in 5ms or whatever the display still has to decode and convert the signal to something that actually hits the visible display. That's where the lag is, not (necessarily) how long it takes an individual pixel to change.

Video scaling via graphics control panel usually seems to be broken with both nvidia and amd. Is anyone currently using this feature and if so what device/drivers are you using?

I got a 27" 1080p because it was cheap, games would run good, and I don't have perfect vision. I like it and it is pretty big. at 220 bucks I thought it was a good deal. http://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-27EA33V-led-monitor

So I've discovered the joys of custom resolutions in the Nvidia control panel. I've got my 60 hz LG 27EA33V up to 74hz. I've done some web browser vsync tests in my web browser and they are showing that high a refresh rate. If I got up to 75, the monitor tells me that it is too high. My question is, are the games I play going to use the custom resolution (refresh rate)? If so or not, how do I tell? Do I need to manually set it in games that support setting refresh rate? Thanks! edit: world of tanks has a helpful setting that displays available refresh rates, of which 74 is included. LRADIKAL fucked around with this message at 03:19 on Dec 7, 2016 |

OK, cool. Followup: if I use vsync, will it drop down to 37fps for the half rate?

This Costco talk has got me jonesing. What are the best $450-600 120hz+ 1440p 27" monitors? I don't mind if it's new or refurbed as long as there's still warranty. I want either gsync or freesync, don't care which. I'm somewhat open to other sizes and resolutions in the same range if there is something special at the moment. I can do Costco, but I also like Amazon (and it's 5% credit)... Hell I can go newegg! No sales tax still? LRADIKAL fucked around with this message at 02:28 on Apr 16, 2017 |

It's smoother. I'm overclocked at 74hz and when it reset to 60 I was wondering what was wrong with my computer playing rocket league. Quick camera swings make it super apparent.

It's almost certainly a bad idea to use a TV. I'm sure there's some exceptions, but I'll leave that research to you. Anyone have a recommendation for a cheap, decent image quality 32" 1440p with smaller bezels? It's for a secondary, non gaming display to pair with my more expensive gaming monitor of same res/panel size. Don't need high refresh and HDR, etc. There's a decent selection on Amazon, between $200 and $250, wondering if anyone has any experience in this class of display.

Any suggestion on a workhorse 1440p 32" monitor as a secondary to a same resolution game monitor? I use if for music players and CPU graphs and discord and sometimes video. It's an over/under setup so a small bottom bezel would be a bonus

Saukkis posted:You could put the monitor slightly behing the main monitor so the bezel wouldn't be an issue. Good point, in any case, it's a cherry on top feature. Oh yeah, and flat, please.

I asked not too long ago, so maybe the research is going to be on me, but I'm looking for a 1440p 32" monitor. Any refresh rate is fine, it's a secondary screen to match my primary. Kind of driving me nuts having a 27" 1080p above my bigger, higher res one. How can I figure out what the cheapest non terrible version of this I can get is? Seems like maybe the market for that size/resolution is small and games oriented. Thanks!

more pixels per second means that it's harder for your graphics card to draw the pictures.

Hey All, I have one of these LG Ultragear 1440p 32" monitors (https://a.co/d/hZBbbhm) . I'm looking to pair another 32" 1440p monitor with it and replace an existing 1080p display. I'm looking for either something cheaper to use as a secondary, or something better to take the place as the primary display. The Ultragear I'm pretty happy with except of course I can't get HDR to work worth a drat (either blows out windows, or mode shifts strangely in games), which I think is maybe more of a windows issue? So to reiterate, I'm looking either for a high refresh gaming monitor, or a decent IQ cheap one of the stated size. Thanks! edit: no curve! Wrr posted:Quick Question: My monitor seems to be splitting / peeling; anyone know a good glue or adhesive to glue this bit back onto the shell? It's hard to see from the picture, but it looks like there's some slimy adhesive between the panels and the bezel. You might be able to wipe the adhesive off. It also could be some kind of tape that might need to be peeled off. Then you need to put a tiny bit of appropriate adhesive, and have a good way to clamp it together (i guess rest it face down?) Heck, maybe super glue would work. anyway, don't gently caress up! edit: oh, it's curved, so maybe mini clamps and like a strip of balsa, or a bunch of tiny masking tape strips over the back and across the front of the screen?

With these high end QD-LED HDR monitors, are we running HDR in windows desktop or are we mode switching for games? What about the Windows "artificial" HDR? Do you have to dial it in for every different game, etc?
