I started a comedy video podcast called Celery TV. It's like an internet TV channel. It's a mix of episodic content of different shows and short comedy films. iTunes: http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/celery-tv/id435411914 Web: http://celery.tv

Been working hard on my show and is wondering if anyone had advice to getting the name out there. I'm doing a daily 2 hour podcast. ALSO, I would love to get on the gooncast site, but making a wiki is annoying as hell.

Heya, Signed up for the goon casts site to create a page for my podcast a bit ago but haven't received a reply yet. I was hoping to make my page sometime this weekend.

I got a guy last night to download an episode of my podcast while I was on xbox live and he balked at 51 minutes. 2 hours needs to be super duper engaging! Whats up with the banner ad?

Yeah 2 hours is like a double marathon - I have trouble conceiving of a non-professional comedy 'cast that's an hour. But maybe that's because I listen to so many podcasts, of several different types (i.e., not just comedy). Battering Ham posted:Heya, Signed up for the goon casts site to create a page for my podcast a bit ago but haven't received a reply yet. I was hoping to make my page sometime this weekend. It's more or less me doing the show I'd love to do on radio. It's my dream to do a show, and it's not too shabby. We had a great show today. Here's a link, I'd love to get some feedback. http://m.podshow.com/media/25699/episodes/282073/wedgeradioshow-282073-05-24-2011.mp3

I just finished the fifth episode of my podcast [Citation Needed]. It's based on bad wikipedia writing, and it's hopefully a lot more fun than that sounds, it's mostly sketches that explore the premises created by the incoherent wikipedia writing. So far guests have included Paul Sabourin of Paul and Storm, Josh Fruhlinger (The Comics Curmudgeon) and Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett of MST3k/RiffTrax. Check it out, hope you enjoy it! http://citationneeded.tumblr.com/thepodcast

Fake Green Dress posted:And I had a play around with Photoshop and here's my idea for a really simple banner ad. I'd need a small square logo image from everyone who wants in on the thing, as I'm just pulling stuff people posted on the site at the moment. We really need to move on the banner ad...I've had people's money sitting in my Paypal for a while now! Can you make a GIF with the text below (each line being a new 'frame' of the GIF), no one objected to it and it removes the need to update the graphics for every new podcast that gets added. krushgroove posted:Free money... My friends and I just started to record some (two groups actually 1 sports 1 tech right now), once I get a little less embarrassed by how poor it is I'll post it up. Until then, I'm really enjoying a bunch of these

I mean, the My Little Pony fans have a drat banner ad now (which makes me think of your Pony fan show, Lou). Let's get the banner ad up! I completely forgot this thread was here and have only been checking the workshop one. Is there any solid agreement about the ad? I think you're right that coordinating/updating everything so we can include show logos might be a problem. I'm thinking we should just do the logo as roughly the left third of it and then some changing text as the right 2/3, but if anyone has any better ideas...? EDIT: Just had another silly tagline idea: "Put goons in your ears."

I don't remember any hard opinions about the ad, so I assume whatever you and I come up with will be OK with everyone who's paid into the ad. The logo as 1/3rd with changing text in the rest is fine - it makes a nice change from the overly animated ponies ad, the Bieber eyes, etc., and injects a bit of class. How about this for the alternate text: 1. Get Goons in your ears! 2. Gooncasts.com 3. Podcasts from Goons 4. Entertainment you can trust, from people you probably shouldn't Maybe version 2 (for the second month) could be something like I text I put earlier for a little bit more goony feel, if everyone is OK with that.

I think that's great, but can you center the logo on the left vertically? What do the rest of you think?

Centered logo. (If I make the blue end before the bottom we get a little too much white space.)

Oh, I see what you mean anything more from me would be truly nitpicking (or what my boss calls 'pixelfucking') Any other reactions? I'm busy over the holiday weekend but when I get back this is what's going up unless I hear anything different. Fake Green Dress - Are you happy to host the image on your show's website, or wherever it's at now? If there's any issue I can put it on the Digital Porridge FTP.

I like it. my only suggestion would be to make the 2 lines of text larger. That "entertainment" text is soooo tiny. Besides that its absolutely fine. When you buy the ad on SA you upload it to the SA server so you don't have to host it yourself.

I agree about the text upping and love it other than that. I was loving around on the keyboard today and came up with this. http://www.deadideavalhalla.com/Promo/PROMO2.mp3 I eventually want to make like 10 different ones so if any of us want to run it as sort of a general promo for everyone, we can. If anyone wants this one, let me know. I will eventually probably link to them all from the wiki.

So Earwolf now has a new site which includes a forum and a way to advertise your podcast for $5 a month in their podcast directory. http://www.earwolf.com/yourcast-signup/ Its kind of crazy considering the forum is just starting... I am curious though... EDIT: The forums are totally fubar right now. 500 errors all over the place... was barely able to register for the forum. EDIT 2: I just realized that they are making their forum on Wordpress which means it going to suck hardcore and be wrecked anytime they get good traffic. I haven't been able to login reliably since I registered. King Lou fucked around with this message at 14:56 on May 31, 2011 |

The size is fine - I put the logo you made originally on https://www.gooncasts.com and the original square one you made on my show's site, https://www.digitalporridge.com so anyone can see how it looks in situ (scroll down and to the left on my show's site) I also played around a little with the theme of the Gooncasts site (tell me if you guys hate it) and added a 'how to make a podcast' page. I started adding some info to the 'how to' page from King Lou and Wrench that they've posted ITT, anyone else is free to add stuff.

I'm trying to figure that out, it's part of all the themes...if I could I'd make it link to all the different gooncasts.

That's surprising, given the quality of your work and how many people rave about it. By the way, Lou, your Cum on Food episode inspired a discussion on this week's Those drat Ross Kids (http://www.thosedamnrosskids.com/2011/05/31/episode-29-30ft-high-club/). The salient part of the discussion stretches from 15:30-17:30, but it leads into a news story about someone putting menstrual blood into their boss's food, and a quiz about culture-bound psychological disorders.

If it makes you feel better, the majority of my audience is made up of people that I (or my co-hosts) know personally in some way. The donations feel somewhat like charity, but I know that they listen on the reg so it's not out of nowhere. Secret to making money off of a podcast: Crassly beg your friends for money.

King Lou posted:A fair number of my listeners appear, by their Facebook profiles or requests for magnets, to be high school kids. Not really surprised they aren't floating me $. To be honest (and it's not just you), I just outright forget about donating when people don't mention it in a show. The reason is that I rarely go to most show websites. The shows I'm subscribed to automatically download new episodes, and most of the shows I follow post Facebook updates as well, so I often don't even think about going to the website, which is typically the place to donate.

Slightly weird question, but you guys are all used to vocal recording so you might be helpful: we're recording another episode tomorrow, and I'm fighting a respiratory infection and don't quite have my voice back yet. Any suggestions for a) meds/tea/etc. that will help me get it back faster/make talking less painful, or b) post-processing effects that will make me sound less like I'm dying? We can't reschedule because one of our panelists is leaving town for a few months right after.
