Aight thanks, I'll try that. Hopefully the vault suit from that mod I use still shows up in their lists cause I really like that. Maybe I'll learn GECK to make sure of it. Also lol that's the guy who ripped off ropekid's mod

I wanted to play this game again for the first time in like 6 or 7 years, and after installing all the essential mods to ensure it runs smoothly, I'm now looking for fun stuff.

A few years ago I played Fallout 3 for the first time with mods, and while I would describe 3 as "serviceable", the real highlights came in the form of 2 mods, and I was curious about New Vegas having any equivalents to them.
1) The Lone Wanderer theme, which gave the player home in Megaton a theme that added a wide variety of decor based on how much of the game world you had explored. It was a huge highlight for me, and I loved to regularly return to my house in megaton to see what was new. Is there something like that for say, the Lucky 38 player home?
2) The Duke Nukem Mysterious Stranger Mod, which does exactly what it says on the tin. Would this be compatible with New Vegas? If not, are there any other silly Mysterious Stranger mods you would recommend?

A reddit post asked for one that turned the Mysterious Stranger into Easy Pete, so I did that.

Lombard Station adds stuff when you beat DLCs but it’s not a ton. An extra teleport to the big mt, etc.

The goon-made player home Lombard Station adds bits and pieces when you visit each of the DLC areas IIRC.

The link in the OP is broken, but I assume Viva New Vegas is still the solid choice for someone who has never done modding like this before?

Once I'm done with the long task of getting this setup and have successfully run the game I'll ask for any specific suggestions of people's favorite mods to upgrade things from acceptable to awesome (but not drastically changed).

finish the main list, launch the game, make sure it works, then add on the extended part, which contains 90% of what people will recommend. even the extended viva new vegas list does not "drastically change" anything.

Hey my memory's a little fuzzy, but I remember the last time I tried radio mods for New Vegas, there's was a bunch of dead air where there should have been songs. Does the Secret Stash avoid that? I think I might have accidentally tried adding both that and More Where That Came From.

Thank God. One of the first things I noticed after being pleasantly surprised how nice the game looked and ran was how New Vegas' radio station really sorta sucks compared to Fallout 4.

Bingo Bango Bongo is pretty racist yeah.

It’s been litigated endlessly that it’s bizarre fallout 4 mostly reuses 3’s soundtrack but boy. It sucks. They’re already gazillion dollar games, license some different music! It’s not like there’s a dearth of it.

Back when Fallout 3 was first coming out, I remember some Gamestop employee breathlessly trying to sell me on the game because the Butcher Pete song was, like, he was having sex, but it was also talking about it like he was killing them. Whenever I see someone surprised that people liked that game, I remember that person.

It should be packaged in a way that you should be able to add it to MO2 via the menu buttons at the top. As long as everything is in the right folder it should work

Okay, so I managed to get the three files ( neat, the first one only opens if all three are in the same folder ) and am reading the ReadMe.txt right now. So, downloading Extended New Vegas Radio Generator seems to be a prerequisite but that should be easy. My main question is where Extended New Vegas Radio Generator and Secret Stash will go in my MOD2 loadout.

I dont think it'll really matter where it sits in your load order, as long as the radio generator is loaded first.

My understanding if I'm remembering Extended New Vegas Radio Generator correctly is that it's extremely hard to combine multiple radio mods that add to the same radio station. So you can have one of Secret Stash or More Where That Came From relatively easily, but not both. It's also easy to have Secret Stash, Conelrad/Existence and the Zion Radio mod installed at once, looking at my load order from 2022.

I have it below 'Imposters and LOD flicker fix' from Viva New Vegas on the left. Also I don't remember if Stash came in three files but it should result in four .esp files.

CONELRAD is one of the best radio mods for 3/NV, and a few of the songs in 4 that weren't just reused from 3, are from that mod.

I also like the OWB Radio Extended mod. It adds a bunch of good stuff, most notably "Powerhouse" by Raymond Scott.
