I'm getting a 404 when I try to grab the fomod version of The Armory off samods.org. Doesn't matter if I use the link on the front page or in the actual mods section. The 7z version still works, but figured you might wanna know, Naky.

Awesomeness. Been browsing through the thread across the past several days, and everything looks really sweet. I haven't played NV since November, so a bunch of mods should make for fun times. Also, has anyone tried any of the plant/grasses mods? This one caught my eye in particular, since it was by Vurt. His work on Morrowind's plants was nothing short of amazing, so this looks like it might be pretty drat good, too. (I hate that imgur turned the last image into a JPG.) EDIT: Had two of the same image, fixed that.

Been having some annoying issues while playing lately. In addition to the usual (expected) crashes, the game has started completely freezing when I load my saves. The game will freeze as soon as the loading screen finishes doing its thing. If it doesn't do that, it will finish loading but the loading screen never goes away. Instead, black bars will flicker up and down across the loading screen while the game will "play" in the background. I decided to look at the Nexus and see what some of the recently-added files were. In addition to the usual screwiness, I found some things that really stood out as a combination of and . Nanomorphic Ammo - Ever feel like your New Vegas experience wasn't enough like Deus Ex: Invisible War? Now it can be with universal ammo! Ever think Veronica didn't look quite right? This mod aims to correct that by giving her a mustache. Lastly, ever think that hardcore mode wasn't quite hardcore enough? Ever think that, just maybe, something important was missing? How about this gem? It "forces" you to bathe regularly, because the world ending isn't an excuse for being a filthy bastard. On the more positive side, I found a mod that adds a shitload of songs to Radio New Vegas. Specifically the ones that influenced the names of the quests as well as some assorted songs that keep with the western feel. EDIT: Fixed a link. I know I'm late as hell about this, but I just got around to doing "Tales from Burning Sands: Episode One". The ending to that was pretty Anyway, between the two casino mods (Bison Steve Rebuilt and Run the Lucky 38) which is the better mod? I liked Lucky 38, but some of the upgrades didn't make sense, and the money safes seemed to cap out at 6,000 and 5,000 caps each, respectively. That particularly bothered me, since in my last save the casino was making, according to the mod, almost 23,000 caps per day. Though on the upside, it was hilarious to walk up to random gamblers in the '38 and hear them gossip about it. "They say nobody's been inside that tower you can see lit up for miles!"

It's just amazing how well the leveled list fits into the game. I'm having a difficult time remembering just what is a vanilla weapon and what isn't. I sort of do wish that the leveled lists were used in the DLC/expansions, but I can understand why they aren't. It did make me smile, however, when I was attacking The Fort and got charged by a Legionnaire with a katar. The Fiends also seem to have a lot of the semi-decent hardware if you feel like going after them. I've found at least one DEagle on them, as well as assorted SMGs. I dunno how much of that is from being an abnormally high level, though. Finally, shouldn't Project Nevada allow your skills to exceed 100? I could have sworn I saw that option when I was installing it, but I may be thinking of XFO instead. I know the level cap "remover" is working fine. (Level 38 and still going strong!)

Jan is right as far as the thunder thing goes. I frequently get thunderstorms brewing in the game, but rain seems to be relatively rare. It doesn't help that weather seems to reset itself every time you fast travel. Just beware with some of the optional weather settings for Nevada Skies. I dunno what happened, but all of a sudden my game has become unstable as hell. The only things I've recently added were that track pack I posted a few pages back, and I updated Nevada Skies - URLWHH. I'm not sure if it's the track pack causing the instability, or if it's NS, or what, but I've had to turn CASM's frequency down to every 1 minute just so I don't lose what progress I can make in that length of time. I can't see any major problems in FNVEdit, no conflicts that make the game behave like that. Before I deleted a lot of my backlog of CASM saves, the game was crashing every time I hit the CASM quicksave key. The past several days I've had some performance issues that were cleared up by manually using the PCB console command - performance issues like the inventory taking close to 10 seconds to open up. It doesn't honestly sound like a mod conflict and sounds more like your game is crashing due to a lack of memory. Mod conflicts can (usually) be reproduced EVERY TIME you perform an action, memory crashes happen sporadically and are usually due to NVSE and texture mods taxing the NV .exe well beyond its limits. I actually don't have any texture mods installed! Though I wouldn't be surprised if it were my PC running out of memory. Thanks to a long-standing issue I've had, I only have two usable gigs of memory. I've been really lazy about fixing it, so yeah. Anyway, I tried disabling the music pack and the constant crashing cleared up. So I can't recommend it as strongly. The "RNVExtended[20]v3b1.esp" mod that was included in the first pack is apparently from a discontinued mod. There's another version out (same author, linked to from the discontinued mod's page) that apparently lets you include 32,000 songs onto Radio New Vegas... including stuff from Galaxy News Radio. So if any of you are willing to fiddle with some insane kind of mod setup, it might be worth checking out. Mr. Crow posted:Rest inside for at least 9 days (whatever your respawn time is). I'm starting to get curious just how much the leveled lists break once you get above level 30. Especially if you start getting north of 50. At 39, even the Vipers and Legion Recruits are starting to get some pretty interesting equipment. Stuff like Desert Eagles, katanas, and other mid-high end stuff from The Armory. I do find it a little entertaining, however, that the Legionnaires that use melee exclusively are coming loaded down with two or three different types of ammo, usually 10mm, 5.56, and either 9mm or .22 LR.

I really haven't seen any need to interact with HEIDI at all when playing with UHNV. Beneath all her video screens is a separate interactable object that launches the "console" that you can do stuff with. Really, at this point all I'm using UHNV for are the collections. If there were another hideout mod that had as many sorters, display walls, and quest trophies as it did, I'd switch in a heartbeat and never look back. Though on the "why bother playing at all" side of things, you can exploit the "tgm" command and the shooting range for literally infinite XP by continually shooting a blue target until you get tired of holding down the mouse button. The hunting simulation was also kinda-sorta fun to a point. Am I also the only person who completely cheeses the "quest" for UHNV by deactivating clipping and avoiding the laser hallway entirely? I still have yet to find a way to do that legitimately. I'm convinced it's not possible.

Advanced Recon Gear is probably your best bet for the Nevada Skies nights. It's not even particularly hard to find the NVGs, since a set exists as early as Primm. (The always-empty NCR tent next to the lieutenant's tent has them.) I just wish there were more helmets that featured the NV settings. You're limited to wearing some sort of weird targeting gear over your eye, a helmet that looks like the ones that Ghosts from Starcraft wear (or the Omar from Invisible War), or Ranger helmets. As a side-note, I was never able to figure out how to apply the NV settings to the sunglasses like I wanted to. The FNVEdit manual's section on applying scripts was basically "Go download a mod and study it until you figure it out."

The discussion about player homes a few pages back got me to looking around for a good one to replace the Underground Hideout. Lucky 38 Reloaded simply wasn't a very good mod in my opinion and it and UHNV appeared to be the best player housing mods on the Nexus. I was about to download the GECK and start plugging away at making my own when I found one I really like. http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=40136 This little "vault" is pretty far to the south of the map, just up the hill from Nipton. It's not a pristine VaultTec facility, it's just a disused "bomb shelter" style vault. Sadly, there's no weapon display walls, but that's about the only downside I've seen to this little place. You do have to do an "unmarked quest" to get the vault up and running, but it's as simple as using some common parts to fix the power system. Definitely worth checking out if UHNV is pissing you off or if the engrish of Lucky 38 Reloaded is making your eyes cross.

Anime Schoolgirl posted:Question on damage scaling: While I don't use the medium ammo guns too often, I'm fully in favor of lowering damage across the board. At the very least, I think the .50mg rifles really need to be revisited. If the DPS on the one I picked up yesterday was correct (Barrett .50) I could probably one shot the Legate from a sneaking position. (Too bad I uninstalled UHNV, because it would let you spawn Legendary Deathclaws on demand after you finished the hunting simulator, which would be pretty useful for damage testing.) Related to the above, is there a mod (besides PN) that lowers the dismemberment chance? I cycled through PN's options, but it wouldn't let me go lower than 45%. A head (or body) shot from my old rifle (The American Marksman I think?) would turn any opponent into kibble almost 3/4 of the time. To be absolutely fair, my character is also level 45, and has enough perks to become the closest thing to a demigod in the Fallout-verse. I really should probably retire the character.

Mr. Crow posted:And why is it impossible for people to do quality control (has nothing to do with The Armory, I've already said how I feel ). Playing "Run the Lucky 38" and there are literally like 4 different ways/methods to use the elevator/menu in it and none of them are similar, and one or two of them don't even send you to the right place, it really annoys the poo poo out of me and it seems to be a pretty cool mod. I mean how hard is it to put the same menu script for the elevator on everything. If you're using Run the Lucky 38, don't use Victor unless you absolutely have to. That mod is quickly approaching the "feature creep" singularity and approximately .5% of it was ever tested. I used to love the mod, but the more I found in the Lucky 38, the less I liked. Things were out of hand when I found three fully stocked (with extremely powerful weapons) armories in one of the basements... one of which wasn't properly locked behind the "You have to pay 150,000 caps to get in." door. The one feature that really convinced me to uninstall the mod and never look back was the "Haven" section. There were several "vaults" in between featureless cave systems. One of the vaults had something like six consecutive "airlocks" before it finally opened up to... another airlock, but one with two friendly turrets. There wasn't anything of noteworthy value in any of the vaults that I was able to find, either - beyond some random ammunition. Several of the terminals I found down there had more of the horrid writing that seems to be endemic in the mod: screen after screen after screen of some supervisor or another keeping a "journal" and bitching about Mr. House. I don't recall any of them having been broken up into paragraphs. I believe one was seriously six screen lengths long. Then, to top it all off, one of the deepest vaults had two locked VR pods. So yeah, stay the gently caress away from Run the Lucky 38. The only other "build this casino!" mod worth mentioning is "Rebuild the Bison Steve." That mod is much better in every regard, including professional-sounding voicework that doesn't have the "twenty-somethings recording lines in Skype" problem a lot of mods have.

Lucky 38 marker? Please tell me there's a mod that adds a marker to every screen of the strip. That would make me so goddamn happy I could spit. Randomly, I seem to be having some difficulties getting hardcore mode to stick to my characters. I can toggle it on at character creation, or toggle it on in the menu, and neither stays on. At first I was attributing it to PN's adjusted timescale, but no characters of mine have needed to eat/drink/sleep. When I check the menu, sure enough, hardcore is off. Lastly, with the amount of discussion about RFC in the past few pages - is it largely stable? Is the main quest completely hosed when it comes to the "personal" stuff? Are the DLC packs working? I never did The Pitt, and never finished Broken Steel in my FO3 game, so experiencing them as The Courier would be pretty badass.

I dunno if anyone else here uses the Wasteland Essential Gear mod, but I thought it couldn't hurt to plug it. It's kind of like Tailor Maid - it adds satchels, duffel bags, and head scarves to random loot lists all across the wasteland. I've been using it since I first started modding New Vegas and it's worked well with everything I've installed. I don't think any of the satchels, besides the duffel bag, provide extra carry weight. However, they do look pretty cool when you're wearing them. I also wasn't joking when I said it gets into loot lists all across the wasteland, either. You'll find your first satchel within minutes of leaving Doc Mitchell's house, and random folks all around the wastes will be wearing various packs or satchels. The Cheshire Cat posted:Okay this is bugging me - I know that Fallout 3 had a mod that fixed the female model's shoulders so they weren't so wide, and I'm pretty sure there was a version for NV too but I can't seem to find it on the Nexus. I think it was Body Type 3 that narrowed female model shoulders. I think that was one of its "selling points" as well as "NOW YOU CAN SEE ALL THE GIRLS BOOBS".

Convicted Lovebot posted:Oh and another update on Requiem -- apparently the game crashes if I have or exceed 9E (I think it's 158 in hex?) mods in my load order. Has this happened to anyone else? Why do you have 158 active mods? You should probably cut down on some, in which case.
