Good job, Mr Lance Murdock!

To continue from the other thread and keep with the complaining:

Ending the show at 10:00 doesn't really surprise me, somehow. He's complained about doing a 5 hour show when he's only contracted for 6:00-10:00 for years. Pretty sure even back on testicle radio. I think he's just acting on it now because he really no longer gives a poo poo. The show has become really phoned-in since Artie left... It's obvious he's just collecting a paycheck now.

Absolutely not. The show was about 10 times better with Artie than with Jackie.

I think the show jumped the shark about the 3rd year of Sirius, when they got complacent and no longer attempted at trying to get good guests and Artie's heroin habit got way out of control.

I completely agree with this.

And, when Bubba signed his last contract they were all crowing about it but neglected to mention he wasn't actually live 4 of the 5 days. Also: completely embracing people to further Beth's career that he would normally shun - to our amusement.

I've come to realize over the many years that this is true. He's dishonest to the audience with a lot of things, which is made even more aggravating because he constantly claims otherwise.

It's not new to the Sirius move, though. I remember at least 10 years ago always wondering why they never announced when they were taking vacation, because it was such a downer to wake up to a repeat. He finally admitted some years ago that he does this to trick the audience into thinking it's a new show, even if it's just for a short time. I guess for ratings. I'm not sure why this carried over to Sirius where ratings don't really matter -- do they?

And yeah, the Fridays off thing is really bad, especially after his rant just a few years earlier.

"If you're not there on Fridays, you are doing a disservice to the audience. And you're not doing your job. You're not doing it right." "I'm not going to come and do this show and jip my audience. Not going to do it. I'm going to do the best I can."

...What's that about not jipping us, Howard?

I read years ago that the lifetime subscription was for the life of the radio, not a lifetime subscription as in "a subscriber forever." Is that still true? I've gone through three radios in six years as a subscriber.

Not true. You're allowed three transfers to new equipment which costs an additional $75 transfer fee and a $15 activation fee.

I'm still on my original Sirius Sportster (the one with the good FM transmitter). However, it's become kind of finicky... I have to move it around a bit sometimes to get a connection to the antenna. Still, five years with the original equipment isn't bad. Sounds like you haven't had as good luck with your equipment, though.

Let me preface this by saying that I know jack poo poo about the web but I think one thing that would help would be for howard to actually have good content on his website so other sites would actually want to post links to his site. The more sites linking in, the higher your page rank is. Besides that, if he had a heading on his show review like "Howard Stern - Jenna Jameson rides the sybian in studio" that would turn up more search results for people searching for Jenna Jameson (or who ever the celebrity was that day) and in return would help with searches.

Basically if he just had content on his site he would get a higher page rank because he would have more sites wanting to link in since his site wouldn't suck so much anymore.

Don't worry. He has some AMAZING things planned. He's just waiting for the technology to catch up with all the crazy things he wants to do.

Those of you who also listen to the radio live:

Have you also noticed that the show has consistently started right around 6:07 since they came back?

At first I thought somebody was running late and was waiting to hear Howard rip into somebody. It used to start right at 6:00 or maybe one or two minutes past. I'm sure tied into him ending the show right around 10:07 everyday; making sure he gets exactly four hours in, and not one minute more.

I've also really noticed the shorter shows more than I thought I would. Funny that by cutting off an hour of show each day it's like we're effectively losing another four hour show.

I took that to mean they "forced" him to make himself available...did anyone else catch that?

He's barley putting an effort into the show.

That said - Howard completely made something up this morning in his discussion about why they don't have Kevin on the show - he said they don't have directors on often. That is utter bullshit. Just in the Sirius years they've had a ton: Quentin Tarantino, Eli Roth, Franics Ford Coppola, Ron Howard, M. Night, and James Cameron. (Though that might have been pre-Sirius.)

Yeah, I thought that was interesting, too. I guess it could be Howard just not remembering; he seems to forget people who have been on the show from time to time. I do think most directors (and ones you mentioned) were in pre-Sirius. Back when they had decent guests.

The other thing that stuck out in that conversation was when Howard said he didn't want Kevin on because they were already "booked up": Jim Breuer was already scheduled. So I guess it's going to be a rare day when they have more than two guests in now.

I suppose it makes sense when you figure how short the show is now. Jim Breuer was in around 8:15 and stayed for an hour without (I think?) a commercial break. That's one third of the show when you remove the commercials, bumpers and songs! If they had two guests in, the news might go too late!
