The Howard Stern Show Megathread. All purpose discussion for all things Howard Stern and all programming on the Howard Stern stations on Sirius/XM radio. The Howard Stern Radio Show History of the Show The show developed on terrestrial radio in 1979 when Stern hosted the morning show at WCCC in Hartford, Connecticut. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDUgbYjcE8s Eventually the show gained momentum and after a few moves to various markets the show landed in Washington DC in 1982. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUZ_3AKox8w Doing afternoon drivetime on WNBC the show became very popular, however in 1985 Howard was fired. He then moved to WXRK, later known as KROCK. He stayed at KROCK for 20 years. During this time, The Howard Stern Show would be syndicated to 60 marketsacross the United States and Canada. In December 2005 Stern left terrestrial radio for Sirius satellite radio. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05LOtWRfhqY Main crew Howard Stern - The show revolves around his life and many, many, many, many issues. Robin Quivers - Howard's "news" woman. Robin has been with Howard for over 20 years. Her role is basically a co-host Fred Norris- Fred is the sound guy. Anytime you hear a sound or song being played in the background, thats Fred. Most people agree, Fred is the man. He will also still write and send Howard notes. Gary Dell'Abate - Producer of the radio show. Uses great techniques such as waiting for guests to call him, and playing hours of sporkle. Benji Bronk - Show writer and the only other person in the studio with Howard, Robin and Fred. 2nd level crew Scott Salem – Head engineer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZKCO0Bm64Y&feature=related Richard Christy – writer, performer, drummer and general awesome guy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgAin-xiL-8 Sal Governale – writer, performer, former boiler room stock broker. Will someday be arrested for murdering his wife and her emotional friend. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NaShH-FSnlI Jason Kaplan – associate producer and general pain in the rear end. Has birthday parties for his cats. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZ8Ox5TpLlY Will Murray – researcher, associate producer, and probably the most normal guy on the staff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-alBKtMRfMY Jamie "JD" Harmeyer – Pulls clips and provides media content. Basically lives at the office and is very underpaid. Oh and he cant really talk. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imBxW0HknY4&feature=related Ronnie Mund AKA Ronnie the Limo Driver - Howard's head of security and driver or as Colin Quinn calls him "Mini Driver" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSM34LiFbwE The Wack Pack Not staff, but a main part of the show and its various bits. What is the wack pack? Thats hard to answer. Its a collection of people who love or hate the show, but all need it in some way. Usually to become a member of the wack pack you must have some sort of physical, mental or emotional problem. Some great wack packers that you are sure to hear from in 2011. Our favorite baby gorilla Artie Lange has been off the show for over a year due to his attempted suicide. He is missed and we all hope he gets back to the show at some point. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3lvsfaRn1U Current plot points heading into the new year -Filling of the Artie chair. Squashy Nipples posted:But that begs the question: at what point did it 'jump the shark'? When Howard got engaged. It all went downhill from there. Some of us older fans thought it would take the show full circle and soon Howard would be back to his old pissed off married self. Sitting in his basement staring at fish tanks. Sadly, that didnt happen and now we hear about him and his wife getting turkey burgers for dinner. She get cheese and he does not. How cute.

Brocktoon posted:Howard's divorce/Jackie leaving Not in my opinion. The shows following his divorce were actually pretty good and all the shows leading up to Artie getting the Jackie Chair were great, but a lot of that had to do with the fact that they had great people sitting in the Jackie chair. An argument for when Stuttering John left the show could be made. 99% of the ball busting and arguments came from John starting poo poo.

Thanks for the links guys. I will add them to the OP ASAP. I think the main difference between Artie and Jackie is that people could have a conversation with Artie. Howard could talk to him and it made the show flow. You could not talk to Jackie. It was just impossible. Jackie was great for his one liners and to goof. He was also great at knocking Robin down a peg or two. I have listened to the show for longer then I care to remember, and just personally like it better with Artie. Its almost 2 different shows. Oh, and F Jackie.

I think you could take this thread and the current Simpsons thread and just replace "Howard Stern" for "The Simpsons" and vice-versa. No matter what the show or medium, after 25 years its going to get stale and have its ups and downs. Both shows seem content to just ride it out as long as possible while we all remember the "good ole' days" Yet we all still watch/listen and its better than 99% of the other poo poo out there.

I have a SIMS CARD so I should be able to get radio everywhere according to Howard Nope. Its considered a 2.99 per month "upgrade" My brother only listens at his office on his computer so what we did was have him just pay me $35 and I added it to my account. You can set up your own username and password, so I just set him up a login. If you know someone with Sirius thats what I would do. XM wont work unless they have The Best of Sirius package. Ether Frenzy posted:We need to compile a "Top 50 moments" or something list. (and get the clips as well if possible.) I think thats a cool idea. We could make it part of the OP and edit it as we all figure it out. I think 1-10 would be pretty easy and we would mostly all agree, but those other 40 will be hard to rank. I know I could name my top 5 pretty fast, but it gets blurry from there. Mr Lance Murdock fucked around with this message at 23:38 on Jan 4, 2011 |

I listened today via the radioio website, but it was having issues. I would check out Bubba's twitter. He seems to be keeping people up to date on problems and fixes. Howard actually kinda sounded annoyed today by the Bubba stuff. I think he was told that Bubba would take whatever deal they offered him and now he/Tim is scrambling around trying to figure out how to fill the time slot.

Sometime into the bit they play a soundbite of Howard saying it has to be a hoax, to which the guy says 'Oh Howard, Howard rules as far as I'm concerned.' and then the host says 'No not really!' They played that on the show today. Howard busted their balls for a few minutes then dropped it.

I dont know if we have enough people who listen to start a whole new thread. Plus, It wouldnt surprise me if Bubba is actually back on 101 before the end of the month. Howard has said they are still talking and trying to resolve things and obviously he doesnt want to burn any calories trying to get new programming on H101 I will gladly do a Bubba thread, but maybe we can just hold off until we know everything is set in stone.

Maybe, but Bubba and Spice also mentioned today that they were still talking to Sirius. Bubba gave a good interview yesterday and said that they were willing to take a pay cut like everyone else. The number Bubba gave was $600k. 400 less than they made, but 400 more than Sirius offered. Seems reasonable to me.

I love Ferrall and listen to the show as much as I can. However, I am a huge sports guy and listened to his terrestrial show on and off when my markets had it. He really is a big name in sports talk radio. The problem with his current show is the time slot. I wish I was on the west coast and commuted because I bet his show is even better at 5pm drive time. Its super high energy and always has music playing. Its hard to catch him at 8pm out east. Usually its just when your in the car, and those car rides typically last a few minutes. I dont think we need a Ferrall thread. The show material is day to day based on the sporting news and events. Sometimes whole hours of his show are spent doing play by play for a dozen live sports events. It really doesnt provide any reason for daily discussion. If they have to fill the 3pm time slot I say give it to Scottie. The only problem with that is that so much of his show revolves around actually watching sports on the air and updating the audience. Not much going on between 3 and 8. Edit. HAHAHAHAHAH ProFootballtalk.com does a daily video show and today they took calls for the first time ever. Just got one of those "why did you cancel" surveys from Sirius. The first question is do you agree or disagree with the following statement: You agree, disagree or chose no opinion. "Howard Stern is not on the air as much as he was when you first signed up" I wonder how many people are really canceling because of him doing less shows.

Ya I doubt we will ever get another uncensored show on Sirius, but I still think we will eventually get the AM show back at the old 3pm slow. That would basically just be another syndication deal and probably would not violate any exclusivity deal with RadioIO. Bubba was full hot on Sirius during the first 20 minutes of the uncensored deal this morning. Played the Sirius gently caress you song followed by "If your Irish then gently caress you" and then proceeded to say he would never go back. CHICKEN DIP UPDATE!!!!

Ya basically Janey was going around Bubbas back to get some special merch for a listener that Bubba did not like. Then he revealed that his mom and sister were causing problems with Heather and that was the last straw. The Doug Clem thing was Mansons idea a while ago. He said he should start talking to him just to piss of his mom. Dont forget about Bubbas 25 page prenup. They have a set amount of money already that Heather gets if they split up.
