Where else could JD possibly work? He's a mess of a human being.

I fired a dude just like him from a Software Etc when I worked there in 1998. The guy kept making female customers uncomfortable and asking for their phone numbers.

She preaches it wrong but I still think she is closer to right (with diet and stuff) then she is wrong.

Bullshit. She's talking about how certain things aren't "food" and her suggestions are based on rich people's abilities. Raw food diets are horseshit, coffee enemas are horseshit, and having your blood "cleaned" in California is horseshit.

She does it because that's what rich people with no family to spend money on do. They try and find a way to make themselves special and it always ends up being some ridiculous hobby that they can point to as "the truth" or "the right way" as opposed to the rest of us who have been horribly misled for decades.

If you want to lose weight and be healthy, vegetables, fruit, low-fat meats and whole wheat carbs in moderation in combination with exercise is the method. It's not a secret, it's been around for thousands of years, and everybody knows it.

You said Robin is closer to being right than wrong. Therapy said, and I'm paraphrasing, "No, if you want to lose weight and be healthy (which is Robin's thing) just eat right and exercise." He wasn't expanding, but answering your question with science fact. You then went off the deep end with body building and all that poo poo.

The fact of the matter is that everything Robin is into (healthwise) is absolute horseshit. Notice that she's still fat, while Richard, who counts his calories and exercises lost a ton of weight. I mean look at the stuff she preaches:

-Raw food diets
-MAGNETS behind the ear
-Pouring coffee down your rear end
-GREEN DRINK
-Getting your blood cleaned out every couple weeks

Some of that is harmless, some of it dangerous. It's all bullshit. So please tell me how she can be 'closer to right.'

Also can you please be more specific with what chemicals are in food that are slowly killing us? Again, please cite legit studies.

And do not use the term "toxins" or you immediately lose all credibility.

Believe it or not, people who wanted to lose weight 5,000 years ago simply ate less and exercised more. That formula still works. I'm not saying we haven't added a ton of chemicals and such (especially in processed foods) to our diets, and I'm sure that there's some impact, but fearmongering about the chemicals in our foods and going nuts by shoving coffee up your rear end isn't even close to right.

Robin can deal with this in her head because she's nouveau riche. Somebody said once that she's "pantomime bourgeoise" and that hits the nail right on the head. She doesn't know the first thing about being wealthy or "upper class", so she just puppets what she sees other rich people do. And if she can be the first one to a fad that gets popular, all the better for her. She'll turn to her semi-famous friends and tell them about the wonders of the fantastic cashew juice diet or whatever the gently caress.

Let's not forget Howard's brilliant advice to cure JD's insomnia: "Just lie in the dark until you fall asleep. If you don't fall asleep, keep lying there until you do. If you're awake when it comes time to go to work, just go to work. One day, you'll fall asleep."

uhhh... what makes that ridiculous?

Outside of learning some relaxation and/or breathing techniques, what else can you do? Close you eyes, and relax. Even if you don't sleep, you'll get some rest. If you are stressing about not sleeping, then you are creating your own problem.

Most sleep drugs don't work very well, and when they do, people tend to build up a tolerance.

Causes of insomnia are either mental or physical. Mental causes (stress) can be alleviated by a number of solutions. By far the most effective solution I've ever had was diet and exercise change. When I ate dinner earlier (before 8pm) and exercised for 30 minutes afterwards, I'd sleep like a rock. If I didn't, I'd wake up throughout the night or not be able to get to sleep at all. Even a nice after-dinner walk was relaxing. Sometimes the reasons are physical, a chemical imbalance or even a thyroid issue can cause it. There are medications that can alleviate these things.

Sleep drugs should be a last resort. Especially Ambien. gently caress that poo poo.

Uhhh...because Howard isn't a sleep specialist and in fact many therapies to cure insomnia include doing things like being active in a different room if you can't initially fall asleep in your bed?

That is loving terrible advice that he gave. It's like telling someone with clinical depression if they just crack a smile once or twice a day they'll be fine.

Howard is a loving moron, I truly pity anyone who takes advice from him on something that isn't radio or possibly chess.

Exactly. You can't bore yourself to sleep. That's not how it works.

Yeah, but there is still a difference between people going to see Artie and people going to see Ronnie yell "Let's gently caress some whores". Just being on the Stern show doesn't mean you can pack an audience, or Jackie/Will the Farter/Yuckko could have sold out shows. They went because Artie is a stand up, with a good act, who also works on the Stern show.

Sal and Richard's stand up is usually "Hey guys, remember this bit from the show". They are funny on the show, but they are not stand ups.

Having watched Artie's DVD and been to one of his shows, I can say that he's really not a great standup. He's okay, better than most amateurs, but his pacing is strange and it's like he's going through the motions. Also, the audience doesn't help.

When I went to one of his shows, people cheered like he was Springsteen and went nuts on every act that wasn't him. Yucko, Bob Levy - they chewed through everyone and then when Artie came out to do his 45 minutes it was a lot of referential bits and backstory about the show as well as some original stuff delivered throughout. He seems like a nice guy, and he stayed for another hour to just answer questions from audience members and seemed grateful for the fans, but he's not a fantastic stand up.

Most of Artie's friends (like Norm) also have demons of their own, and Artie has mentioned that the road is a horrible place to be. Didn't he start heroin when back on the road? I thought he mentioned that during the show where he admitted he was on heroin and that's how he started, but between the lies and all of the weirdness I've honestly forgotten.

I can see how the temptation would be overwhelming for somebody with addiction issues. You're in another bland hotel room and another half-assed comedy club. The sad locals are depending on you to be funny, to help them forget the dreary day-to-day jobs they hate for an hour or two on a Friday night. People have paid real money, they've got babysitters, they're on dates or anniversaries or birthdays, and they're depending on you to make it worthwhile.

Add that pressure to the free drinks and other less legal drugs available, plus sleep deprivation, jet lag, and a bunch of people who have their own issues standing around you trying to find a way to make their existence worthwhile - well, I can see how you would easily get pulled into drugs/drinking again pretty easily.

She's out of her gourd, man. I watched that video and I'm perplexed how she didn't just start laughing at the guy and walk away.

I wish I was a horrible person with a get-rich-quick scheme. I'd latch onto Robin so quickly and sell her my magnets/cookies/enema powder/green drink/etc. I can't even imagine how easy it would be to convince her of something.

"These stones? Well, you warm them in pure stream water that's heated over a wood fire - when they're warm to the touch but not hot enough to burn, you wrap them in a hand-knitted scarf and place them on your ankles. It's well-known that heat rises, and as you warm the blood in your ankles it raises the activity of your neural network and your entire body naturally releases endorphins and seratonin in your brain causing a deep altered state of consciousness. No, I know they look exactly like river pebbles - but trust me, these have ceremony attached to them."

150 lbs isn't small for 5'9". It's just about right in the healthy range unless he's just totally bulking up with muscles.

For somebody that height, anywhere between 140 to 180 is probably prime weight range.

First, she's not leaving the show. She just isn't. If she's offered a TV show she'll do it in combination with this show. Like Seacrest does his radio show and American Idol in the afternoons/evenings.

Second, I pray, PRAY, that she gets a daytime talk show and is absolutely destroyed by tiny, abysmal ratings. I pray that every review of the show talks about how she comes across as arrogant, ignorant, and phony.

Third, I can't wait to hear Howard play the clips from Quivers: A Show or whatever the gently caress it's called. I cannot wait to hear Fred rip into it. I hope they take phone calls from Artie where all he does is laugh hysterically at her and they never hang up on him.

That would be awesome if he had them in studio, it's so aggravating that he's completely out of touch with reality.

I guarantee you that if you asked Howard Stern listeners who the above people are, "Tim and Eric" would be the least known. Let's face it - their humor is very different, most people don't really know who they are, and most people won't really like their show that much anyway. It's definitely funny to me - but I really don't think a lot of people (especially Howard's core audience of people in their 30s/40s/50s) would even remotely like the show.

That being said, Tim and Eric are on the way up and Howard is on the way out, so it's not surprising he's not willing to bother with "new" and interesting acts when he's on auto-pilot so much.
