Since HowardTV is airing daily shows from the new year does this mean that the show signed another five year television deal as well? I haven't heard anything about it.

Does anybody listen to Ferrell?

I've been listening to Ferrall since he was syndicated on an AM station in my city. He was the drive-time guy and one of the more popular shows on the channel, and it's nice that his time slot on Sirius is the same as I've always heard it. I like him because he's one of the only mainstream-type shows that will discuss topics from a gambling perspective, and he actually gets a lot of good guests as far as the sports world is concerned.

Whoever writes the show descriptions for Howard TV is pretty funny sometimes. The info box for the Frankenstein Makeover Contest episode came up "Joe Cancer, Vin the Retard, Ronnie the limo driver, and Ralph the fag judge a contest where 14 women compete...".

No way that show lasts much longer than Joe Buck's. The only compelling part was when Piers asked Howard why he clams up when it comes to discussing his salary, and then he let Howard squirm right out of it. He had another chance at it when Howard brought up pulling out of the gubernatorial race, but instead he just floated some boring "Do you love your wife?"-type question to change the subject.

That's just the nature of the game in terms of premiering a new program.

Plus CNN doesn't exactly have a great track record for ratings.

Well, we all know that. Especially when your premier includes Oprah. It's just funny in retrospect to hear the things Howard was bragging about during the first segment knowing that the media response to the show has a "Ratings plummet!" headline.

Artie's laugh kills me. It made those types of conversations way funnier than they probably really should have been. That's one thing the show definitely lost. It's still funny, but there aren't those moments that build up into something really hilarious where everyone listening is laughing. The Ash Wednesday Story is a good example. It's a generally amusing story on its own, but Howard and Artie cracking each other up so much that they both eventually lose it is what makes it a classic.

Adam Carolla announced on his podcast this morning that he will be syndicating his show to H101.

Holy poo poo, this is the best news I've heard in a long time. I actually prefer Adam's show to Howard's because Adam is really the quickest and wittiest guy in the business. I just end up listening to the Stern Show more because it's so much more convenient.

No offense to Bubba, but H101 has never been better. All the good best-of stuff, Ferrall at his same time slot, and now Carolla.

Chimneyfish

Not to sound all smug, but I'm a little worried about the announcement being described as a "test run" situation because it's likely that Adam's humor will go over the head of the average H101 listener (i.e; Joey Boots). His show is definitely a lot different than Bubba's.

Of course, SFN had a generally negative reaction to the news. This quote sums it up: "Unless Adam has a good guest on, his podcast is awful. I have tried numerous times to listen to it but I am confused."

Put Dave Attell in Artie's chair. He's great at squeezing in quick one-liners the way Artie did, Howard thinks he's hilarious, he spends enough time touring and drinking in sleazy clubs to always have good stories without being a complete mess of an addict, he has the behind-the-scenes SNL stories that Howard loves (like banging Sarah Silverman), he hangs out with the same circle of comedian friends that Artie did and has been good in the roasts, and he's probably best known for his work doing improv comedy regarding strippers, porn stars, and other degenerates on Insomniac.

It'd all be a perfect fit if it weren't for the fact that he's probably too close of a friend of Artie's to ever feel comfortable taking his job.

Thanks, I was just looking for the BOFF BOFF BOFF barking clip but couldn't remember when it had happened. It was a brilliant show moment- right up there with the Johnny Weir interview about how he stays in shape for figure skating.

We can't talk about Artie and Howard's infectious laughs without bringing up this classic:

Anyone else catch Robin's attempt to name military ranks yesterday? "Private third class" and "light colonel."

You mean when she was talking about how she joined the Air Force to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a pilot, but then gave up on that dream once she learned that it would take five years? After joining the military she made the surprising discovery that it involved obeying authority so she immediately hated it.

I also liked when she claimed that the Air Force really wanted her to work as a pilot for them but she turned them down, and that is was annoying for her when she had to be a nurse working around a bunch of doctors who didn't know as much about medicine as she did.

Sal is the worst type of person when it comes to sports; the guy who never watches them or has a favorite team, yet always talks tons of poo poo whenever somebody else's team loses. The guy who never makes any kind of prediction about the outcome of any event but loves to gloat whenever somebody else loses a bet, as if he had picked the game correctly. I realize that Sal busts balls for a living, but there's really a person like this at every workplace.

Chimneyfish

I didn't say anything about Sal offending me. I like his tweets- my team didn't lose anyway. I said that type of person is worse when it comes to talking about sports than the Howard/Robin type who think that A-Rod is the most significant person in baseball because he's on TMZ the most.

The show is due for a good Fred and Robin fight. I think he's the only person who gets brutal enough to point out how much weight she's put back on. She tends to get a pass when it comes to her weight issues, but declaring herself the Queen of Food and spending the last year dictating to everybody how to be healthy has warranted it being mentioned. Tim and Robin are both looking bigger than ever, while Richard continues to lose weight by eating normal food, drinking pumpkin beer every night, and exercising a little more often.

I enjoyed the show Artie and DiPaolo did, but it was really just three hours of old Yankees and Red Sox references. I think they're funny talking about anything, but it might not catch on with average sports fans in the western markets. I hope they get enough creative leeway to make it more of a general entertainment show that just happens to be broadcast on a sports network.

I think studio redesign projects fall under the In Demand budget and not the Sirius budget. I'm one of the five HowardTV subscribers, and on the "Coming to Sirius" special that showed the construction of the studio it seemed like Doug and DePace were calling all the shots in regard to stuff like this.
