Eh, marksfriggin is off base about the Tyra interview, Howard was constantly bringing up sex and her relationship and grilling her over not wanting to go into anything. It was funny how adamant he was about asking personal stuff and annoying as gently caress how she'd constantly deflect. He even put through a caller who asked how she was in the sack in a final attempt. I was doing chores but I don't remember him saying she wasn't a sexual object, he was obsessed with her sex life and France and how everyone ever must have wanted to gently caress her and such.

I listen to old shows or clip packs pretty much every day, but I'm listening to the current shows less and less. I looked over Wednesday's docket and none of it appealed to me at all whatsoever. I still try to catch the news pretty much every day out of habit, but it's just so much worse without Artie.

The Jonah Hill interview was pretty great, though. Always cool when the stars being interviewed are huge fans, you can tell they're in heaven. Jonah was genuinely sad he had to leave :(

Fred has been SO off over the last few months. He occasionally still nails it, but he's just gotten so lazy with the digital clip system. Even though he now has an insane number of clips at his disposal and isn't hindered by physically switching out tapes he plays far fewer sounds than he usd to and Howard has to ask for music where Fred used to instinctively cue it up (to great comedic effect). I find myself laughing over the thought of clips Fred could've used during news stories or crazy callers and then I get sad :smith:

The Nick and Artie show is amazing, and this is coming from someone who hates sports talk. Can't even stand Ferrell. DiPalo gets annoying as hell with his "I'm a capitalist, those liberals am I right?" but Artie is pretty good about ribbing on him and calling him out on it.

Howard spent the whole first segment of todays show talking about the lawsuit via a rant about a Studio 54 party that sirius held. He was all "do you think im going? Im sueing the company" and then he went into how bullshit it is that sirius doesn't think he's entitled to bonuses from the xm merger subscribers while they waste money on poo poo that does nothing for subscription numbers.

Hahaha I'm listening to this one (the 18th) right now and it's loving amazing, when the timid conservative guy calls in complaining about the porn discussion and Attel's just like "What kind of porn do you like sir?" and the guy goes on about his sports affiliations in "his community"- I loving died. N&A have been on fire as of late, their website needs to get added to the OP, it has every recent show archived incase people didn't know. Actually, it probably deserves its own thread at this point? 3 hours monday-friday that have been consistently funny as apposed to Howard as of late. e: nevermind, I just saw Quack's post and agree with it

http://www.nickandartie.com/
Also commercial free podcast on itunes

I loving love how pretty much every actual sports discussion devolves into gambling odds and what picks to make. My favorite recurring thing is when people call in and open with "Artie I loving love you! So good to hear your voice!" and Nick just goes "Thank you, sir." or just makes some annoyed comment. Also the cleaning woman. Artie's just incredible on the radio, I hope he continues doing well. He makes some distressing comments about being on the wagon and being unable to do anything fun for the rest of his life, it'd be horrible to hear him relapse again :ohdear:

Over/under on when Artie calls out sick? Too soon?

(I quit listening to the Stern show earlier this year, cold turkey.) Does anybody know if Howard's had anything to say about the Penn State child-molesting business? I remember hearing about how Beth's brothers went to Penn State and they loved "Joepa" and that kind of thing; was wondering if that came up.

Thanks.

About what you'd expect. They did a hypothetical situation where Robin walked in on Jason Kaplan molesting a little boy and decided that she'd be wrong to not go to the police, also why was she in the men's showers. Said it was obviously devastating to Beth and anyone close with Penn State.

e: Hadn't heard the morning's show when I posted this, the first 20 minutes were all about the whole Sandusky/Joepa thing. He said all the people who were holding candlelight vigils or holding up "We love you Joe!" signs at the Penn State games were complete loons, and goofed on all the details coming from the case, like how Sandusky had a rock thrown through his window which overlooks an elementary school.

It was the Jackie chair, but then it became the Artie chair after Artie filled it, just as good as, if not better than Jackie.

They've been on a ton this week. Sal got caught on the news saying something was "65-40" in terms of odds, Howard brought him in to berate him and it led to them begging to have some 1time bit players, leading up to Howard saying they've been submitting real clunkers lately and playing a few rejected bits (one of which was actually funny, the other was pretty bad) and Richard saying "Well we give you the bad stuff so you know we're working" which set Howard off even more.

The Nick and Artie show has devolved into total anarchy and I love it. The two have gotten progressively more passive aggressive towards each other since the show started and between the technical fuckups and the callers constantly digging on Nick it's just a pleasure to listen to.

Friday's show had them asking Iran Barkley questions about college football for 3 minutes until they realized that it was actually Iran and not Matt, at which point they just continued asking him questions as if he was Matt Barkley for another 5 minutes.

Also Nick made a comment about the higher ups saying that people weren't coming on the show because Artie's so controversial, specifically because of his Joe Buck appearance, and Artie was just incensed and kept going back to it all throughout the show. Also a drunk chick called in and asked Artie to meet her at a diner at 1am after the show and it was loving hysterical. If you haven't listened to the show or didn't like it, definitely give it another shot with Friday's show.

That Barkley interview was awkward to say the least. The whole time I was thinking that it had to be a bit, there's no way they would actually keep talking to this guy about like he's Matt. I'm still not sure what really happenned there.

Artie has been in a surly mood lately; Nick seems to be getting on his nerves a lot, which makes for some good arguments. Also, how about that Christmas card Artie gave Nick? That was actually a really nice note he wrote to him.
"Bleeding from my stomach"

Yeah, I was shopping while listening to that segment and missed part of the lead in where they were going over the questions they were going to ask "Barkley". At that point it seems like it just has to be a bit, but then they play it off like they genuinely didn't know it was Iran and that whoever booked the guest was loving with them :psyduck:.

I agree about Artie's mood, he just seems as depressed as he's ever been. It worries me, but makes for incredible radio. I agree with Shes Not Impressed, it's just great hearing another cynic.

Going through the N&A clips on their website and even though they're titled "Nick and Artie talk about..." nearly every non-interview clip amounts to "Artie talks about x" or "Artie tells a story about when he x" or "Artie does an x impression". Artie completely dominates most of the interesting discussions which is why it is so hilarious that Nick seems to be the show-runner, crow-barring in new topics with the grace of a drunken midget.

Artie just gets good radio and doesn't give a gently caress about anything else, which is what makes the show so fun to listen to. They joke about it but Artie actually does come across as a seasoned broadcaster in a lot of ways where Nick seems like an amateur, and you can tell when Artie's annoyed with the bullshit they have to put up with from the technical/commercial/higher-ups standpoint. Which, like I said, just makes it more fun to listen to.
