Haass was just getting on with some other idiotic hegemony nonsense, even Maher was taken aback by his general "let's try to control the world until we get stuck some place, then pivot to other areas and control them!" Same with the democracy talk, just arrogant to the extreme. I think Moore would've been far better on the panel if Richard had been on it as well to spout that nonsense and have to deal with significant push back.
Bill has had it especially out for The Papa ever since the healthcare story broke about them planning on bearing down on the workers instead of just upping the cost of the food a few cents---guy is something of a right-leaning fellow to say the least IIRC. Beyond that, they've always been the butt of the joke for terrible chain pizza that you can put a face to from all those blasted commercials.
Haass is a Morning Joe regular and an austerity cultist. It was pretty funny how he was trying to get those Pete Peterson talking points in there as Maher was trying to talk about Muslims.

I just watched it, and if anything you're backwards. Dr. West was actually the insulting one by entirely dismissing the religion of slave-master point with a wordy tangent about Egypt. I'd have liked to see Bill combat where the discussion went much harder. To say that black people accepting Christianity as true was because Jews were persecuted in Egypt is incredibly asinine and furthers my confusion about why we take everything anybody labeled as an "academic" says as correct. Cornel West's point was akin to Mother Theresa saying that suffering brings you closer to god, so you don't get to take painkillers. The religion of their masters having a section which most of them don't even consider to be part of (because they don't read the books) being why they accept that doctrine, which also tells them their servitude is acceptable? I sincerely hope Dr. West is being intellectually dishonest, because the only alternative is that he is, perhaps, really stupid.
That was anything but coming to Bill's aid.
I never really "got" the Cornell West thing...
