yeah, blenders work just fine. I have a blender. it works fine.

just saying, when I used a vitamix, it was holyfuckville all in that kitchen. when I use a normal blender, it's ok. when I used a vitamix, my heart skipped a beat. it's like, you've been with your wife for 15 years, and she's great and all - but then some really dirty rear end entirely too young skanky girl walks in the room with a way too short skirt and some cheap made in china mock-leather boots she never should have been wearing in the first place and like way too much obviously overdone makeup that you objectively find disgusting, but she's caught you at just the right moment and you're like 'oh gently caress, I could really get in to this. I shouldn't - it's going to cost me more than it's really worth - but.................'

the blender is filthy, is what I'm trying to get at - in the best possible way

Ban this sick filth

EDIT ok I just realized recommendations are in the thread OP. After the death of a blender/food processor combo thing, I think I will try the Ninja blender and a Cuisinart food processor maybe.

Are you using the microplane on like wood or the shell of a coconut or something, I'd think it should hold up pretty well otherwise! I have a little one I've owned approximately forever and I've never noticed dulling.

I guess now that I think about it, I generally only use mine for zesting fruit, or maybe on something like garlic or carrot or whatever. Not on harder things like nutmeg, yeah. That would make sense.

Silicone that thin wouldn't be strong enough. Just make a brush out of Dyneema yarn. Although, for all I know it'll cause cancer or something, or maybe it's not heat-safe.

Food processor some almonds and you'll be good. See: http://candy.about.com/od/nutcandyrecipes/r/Easy-Almond-Paste.htm

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good Dehydrator and a good Cream Whipper canister?

Cream whipper: I have this sucker in the 1 quart size http://www.amazon.com/iSi-Cream-Professional-Whipper-2416/dp/B0001MRZWI it owns but honestly is kind of large for most uses. The only time I really was glad I had the big size was when serving a bunch of people at a party (Fernet sorbet with a whipped Grand Marnier topping, so good)

Why not use a belt sander for sharpening, like a Real Man who uses Real Tools

You could sharpen the poo poo out of a knife with those. Look at those nice belts. So #sharp #wow

Unless you're really into the looks there's no reason to get a standing press.

Or higher volume. Believe me, your hand starts to get tired after juicing 100 limes, and the standing press is faster for doing a bunch of presses in a row.

Are you guys sure you're doing it right?

Like this:

40 limes shouldn't be a problem, but again you know your needs better than I do.

I guarantee you, if you're batch-juicing a bunch of citrus for later use, or juicing individual fruits many times throughout an evening while doing other things (for both scenarios, think making cocktails at a bar), it becomes a problem.

I've used this (but do not own it), it works well imo. http://www.amazon.com/Jupiter-Large-Commercial-Juice-Press/dp/B0000CFBZP/
