I'm renting Canon's 100-400 f4.5-5.6L for a race this weekend, and it showed up today. So I did what any sane person would do while learning to use it, I pointed it at my cat.  I can see my porch from here! I have no idea how I'm gonna lug this lens around for a weekend.. it is wrist destroying. I guess it stays attached to the tripod.

I found out through my photography club that a local non-profit, pet rescue/no kill shelter was looking for photographers to shoot pictures of their animals for their adoption website. I just finished up my second for them this past week, and they've been real happy with the photos. I need a dog  But I still love my cats. Too bad my other cat is a big wuss and always sleeps under the bed. Not to mention she has really soft grey (almost blue) fur and she looks out of focus all the time. Pets are awesome. They're alwatys a subject you can photograph whenever you drat well feel like it.
