I've been doing this for a couple of months, which has been an interesting challenge for a guy who never really had many pets. ExecuDork mentioned about this thread in the No Advice Dorkroom thread while asking about shelter photography (posted my answer here http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3188257&pagenumber=108#post387243747), and in turn, I come by this thread looking for ideas on how to mix things up and get some ideas about pet photography. Here's a couple of samples from recently: Obviously pre-Christmas, thanks to torgeaux for a good deal on the macro lens[1]: And now, Obligatory Cats: [1] - also got a good deal from krackmonkey on a lensbaby, no samples in this batch though Piquai Souban fucked around with this message at 00:24 on Jan 24, 2011 |

Anyone have clever ideas on mounting a GoPro camera to a small dog? I got a collar with a velcro mount, but it sags to the underside, and then rocks too much when he walks or runs. Perfect product links also appreciated! This is partially for my own dumb pet photo/videos, but also an idea I have for the shelter I volunteer with.

Question for you guys. I've been shooting for my local Humane Society for around 3-4 years, and have accumulated a collection of 1,700 keeper images. This seems like something I should spin into a project, personally or for the shelter - they like the idea of leveraging the work somehow. Just wondering if anyone had any neat ideas in whatever direction, considering the general appetite the people/internet has for animal pictures - beyond doing a calendar or whatever else. This could manifest itself as a physical collection at the shelter, or as something fun and meme-like on the Internet, just wanted to brainstorm with a group of posters I've grown to like and trust, and who may have seen cool things in their time. Thanks for your time! Max thanks you, too. Piquai Souban fucked around with this message at 01:46 on Feb 25, 2014 |

The dogs were mostly pretty good! Garindan (aka Mark) was pretty comfortable with dogs and knew to account for mask fright, so I was mostly frantically making Donald Duck noises (also have a duck call for this) to have poochie make eye contact with the camera axis.

Anonybominous posted:Love these. I'm hoping to volunteer my efforts to local shelters, too, though nothing this epic. Kudos. If anyone has questions about shelter photography tips and tricks and workflow, I'd be happy to encourage others to do it. The biggest thing for me was getting a friend to serve as an assistant and animal wrangler, but other people might put more of a natural style to it. http://tinyurl.com/rohit-ohs for my almost 5 years of archives. Weird story about the Star Wars thing - posted it as a local story, but it since went to PetaPixel -> CBS -> HuffPo -> Mashable and now people are interviewing me from Colombia. Mark Hamill just tweeted it, which I think is the apex of what I could have hoped for. https://twitter.com/HamillHimself/status/596860188352643072

I'll wait a few weeks before I do this again, but since there's not much going on here at the moment, here's our Mad Men series finale tribute with shelter animals.
