I met someone briefly at a networking event. How do I not gently caress up carrying out 2 with them?

Edit: Is early summer a relative period of calm for campus recruiters or are they gonna be too busy prepping for recruiting season?

So about what percentage of i-bankers -- in particular the Manhattan ones -- are as gross as the ones who comment on Dealbreaker posts?

I'm going to reach out next week to an alum from my school who's an administrative assistant at a hedge fund. Wish me luck.

Maybe not directly, but she could certainly be the one to put in a good word at a firm where I know no one. I cold-called an admin at another hedge fund once and she got my resume to the head of business development. Ultimately, I got turned away via snail mail, but at least I got an audience.

If you want to go the management route, you'll probably want to look into an MBA after you've gotten a couple of years of work experience in. You could prepare now for the GMAT and take it after graduation, as the scores are good for five years. (Correct me if I'm wrong on any of this.)

Also internships, internships, internships. They'll help you narrow down what you want and will build up your resume.

I don't come from a target school either.

What year are you? I'm assuming you're an underclassman.

Do as many internships as you can. You don't have experience, so they'll expect you to make up for that with interest, academic study, and "fit".

I'm so sorry to hear that. Definitely get that poo poo in writing next time. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and reach out to your network. I'm sure you can get some leads that way.

I just started full-time at my firm's credit risk group, where I'll get exposure to a lot of FI products. I'm hoping to be able to parlay that into a DCM or credit analysis role, maybe. :shobon:
