It wants to roll, and too much. There doesn't seem to be much of that high wing pendulum stability in the roll department.

I added about 1" to the rudder and elevator on my cub. Set the rudder to 50% in my dr Holy poo poo. Flies exactly how I wanted it to now, where to as before it was impossible to keep it stable. I can actually fly it slow and cruise around and it just floats along nice and steady. Have flaperons configured, and it basically lands itself with them down.

1" added to the rear controls makes a huge difference. Thanks guys.

Wing detached on me though, and I snapped the fuse. Rubber band snapped. Need to figure out a new way to mount the big wing more securely, or just rubber band the poo poo out of it.

Gorilla gluing it now, hoping to get out again around sunset and give it another go.

Then i got my cheap Asian amplifier and using a 2.4Ghz Patch Antenna i was able to fly around 2.6 miles (4.18Km) away without a single glitch, but i was unable to continue because now my video was causing me problems, hehe!

I plan on doing this to my DX7. It's a clumsy setup, but I'm thinking about a ground station in my office at home, and this would let me run all antennas outside. Also, you could sit in a car and FPV and have all antennas outside.

If it's not the motor, than it's most likely the ESC. Only other thing I could think of would be your RX, but I doubt that.

First parts for my QR build came in today :

Turnigy Talon V2 frame

And not mounted yet, I have 4 NTM Prop Drive Series 28-26A 1200kv motors.

Need to order ESCs and decide on a controller board. Right now I'm stuck between waiting for the cc3d or just going multiwii.

Anyone know a good place to buy wire by the spool online? Local autoshop only has very stiff auto wire. I want something much more flexible for battery/esc leads and what not.

Is there anyone trying to make 4in1 ESCs yet for quad rotors, or would that just get too hot?

edit: Now that I think about, its kind of stupid. Get one motor stuck and you burn out the whole thing. Unless they make them with modular parts.

Am I right in thinking that a large prop might be more efficient for moving the most weight?

That's a 14" prop in the picture? I think the MR prop rule is use a smaller size for more responsiveness and a bigger size for more power, just because of the momentum.

Isn't a 14" prop going to be needing like a 60a + ESC?

My quad changed frames from a Talon to a DJI :

Youtube video pending upload : http://youtu.be/Up2cg6CmEZ4

Maybe you guys can help me trouble shoot the crash at the end. It's not a big deal, only broke a prop, but I'm curious why the quad can't right itself after a free fall, and instead it flips over. Second time I've done this on my Crius Multiwii.

I just had my first successful FPV flight with my quad. Took me a bit to get used to flying through the goggles, but now I can maneuver in a somewhat controlled fashion.

I think I'm getting pretty poor video out of my 5.8 immersion 600mw and fatsharks with blue beam antennas, seems to cut off around 500'.

I've got the tx on top of the center of the quad, with the whip just sticking off the back of the center plate. Would antenna position really be that sensitive at these short distances?

DJI arms don't glue very strong. You can definitely fly with a glued arm, but just glue alone won't stand up to even a slightly hard landing. I tried some pins :

Very short FPV flight, and broke em again! But the pins definitely made it durable enough for normal flight, rough landings and ground skims.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D74mD4qZptw

I really like DJI arms, I know other people hate them but I found them to be pretty durable so far. Only had one snap. I'm planning on buying the TBS discovery plates soon, and I have 8 arms in the mail.

FPV is the poo poo. I love it. Can't wait to get the TBS and a gopro.

Mode 1/2 just means what sticks do what. Mode 2 is what most everyone in America uses. Throttle and rudder on the left, aileron and elevator on the right.

All lipo batteries use a JST-XH connector, and depending on the cells, it varies in size. Get this charger if the kit your buying doesn't come with one, and you'll be able to charge anything.

For long range you want a 72mhz tX or a UHF system like dragon link. You can attach to a dx7. I'm not sure about the dx7s. A stock 2.4ghz system is going to cap you at about 1km.

H frames aren't really new. A lot of people have made homemade H frames. They use the same control configuration as a X quad. They have somewhat different flight characteristics. I've heard someone compare the handling to a plane like in forward flight.

So I'm looking to pick up a small, hand launch glider such as the Dream-Flight Alula http://www.dream-flight.com/alula.html but it doesn't come with a transmitter/receiver. Should I pick up the one they suggest (Hitech Minima 6E)? Also, what would be the best transmitter? Seeing as how I only need to operate a couple of servos, super low cost without the bells and whistles would be preferable. Thanks!

I just sold my DX7 and plan on getting a Turnigy 9X. For the price it's the best tX out there, and there is even custom firmware being worked on which is awesome. It's also module based, and you can get the Orange DSM2 tX module for it so it will work with all spektrum/jr rXs.

You're looking at around 50$ for it with their module and 8ch rX.

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__8992__Turnigy_9X_9Ch_Transmitter_w_Module_8ch_Receiver_Mode_2_v2_Firmware_.html

It's always out of stock and in demand.

If you really want cheaper you can go with something like this :

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__24968__Turnigy_4X_FHSS_2_4ghz_Transmitter_and_Reciever_Mode_2_.html

But seriously, shell out the extra 30$ and get a computer transmitter and you'll be set if you ever decide to fly a more complicated module.

I looked at their website and they are charging 45$ for a single hitec rX. That seems insane.

You could get a 9x, the orange rX module, and a orange micro rX for ~100$.
