I have no idea what that is and I'm glad I'm not familiar with it if drop rates are involved.

Seems they're cool with bringing over DQ games... as long as it's incredibly easy and on mobile.

They're doing a little "pre-registration" thing over here:

Done. Got me a :black101: Wax Murderer :black101: as a starter. Don't care about min/maxing (F class starter), just want to play.

I still think Square-Enix would do pretty well porting Dragon Quest to Steam. The games Dragon Quest were inspired by all started on the PC and I think there'd be more PC gamers who have a nostalgia for the game systems Dragon Quest has over console players.

I would buy the games so hard if they were available on steam.

Hell, I recently preordered Tales of Zestiria because they offered Tales of Symphonia for free since there was enough preorders.
I lost my disk 2 of Symphonia so it was perfect.

2016 already shaping up to be a good year.

In regards to the VII and VIII announcement, is either one the kind where on the DS one screen is 8bit and the other is a 3d representation? If so, my hype meter will be so high.

Thought I'd share some thoughts from trying out the DW1 randomizer the other night (the github one).

First seed, chests in the throne room were Erdrick's Token, a herb and the requisite magic key. Also the cheapest weapon I could find was a hand axe (560 gold) and Red Slimes were early game murder machines with Sleep and Hurt.

Second seed, I get to Kol in its usual spot and search the tile where the Fairy Flute usually sits.

"Thou has found Erdrick's Armor." :getin:

:laffo: Well, that's a good way to get people to try the randomizer.

How is Crack/Boom/Frazzle/Woosh/Buff in any way similar to Wat/Tsu/Foi/Brose/Remit, etc?

I'll do the ice spells.

Old way DW4:
Icebolt->Snowstorm->Icespears->Blizzard

Current DQ:
Crack->Crackle->Kacrack->Kacrackle

PSO example:
Barta->Gibarta->Rabarta

It is similar-ish enough that I see it.

That being said, I like phantasy star because the old school ps1 had you healing with hamburgers way before Mother/Earthbound. Also Monomate Dimate and Trimate. :mrgw:

That happened once to me. The sound and message alone got me to stop playing the game for months. Not because I was mad that I lost progress, but I was scared shitless.

e: That and the Adventure of Link game over screen are the only times I actively stopped playing a game after it happened.

DQ ii is a bit annoying especially when you get the boat since so much opens at once. Even with a guide I'm having trouble since the translation I use has completely different names for everything.

I remember having similar feelings when I rented it as a kid and quit after getting the boat. I have no idea how anyone made it through without a guide even then, I guess people were a lot more patient.

Didn't old games like these usually have a map in the box when you bought them new or if you were really Really lucky when bought used?

I remember relying on maps a whole lot. It helped you with the overworld but you were on your own in dungeons.
