What kind of policies do shipping companies have with regards to background checks? Would they take a guy with a felony?

It's about three months old at this point, one count of assault resulting in GBI in California. Assuming I keep a clean record through the end of my probation in 2014, the court may reduce the conviction to a misdemeanor.
