Well I now have the misfortune of knowing who "WaifuChron" is.

Kinda reluctant to do this but it’s industrial-adjacent and I post itt so… my new album is out today! For fans of krautrock especially in the noisier vein like Cluster’s second album, some new age and early industrial influence as well. If you’re interested:

Thanks for sharing. Sounds like something I can work to. I mean that very positively heh.

Yeah, that vocal effect in the new Ashbury song is what you do when you’re completely bored with music and just fuckin’ around with plug-ins. I can’t believe they released the track like that.

I had high hopes for Yaz returning, but I don’t think they’re into making the kind of music I’m interested in listening to anymore. I didn’t really like Victorian Wallflowers, either, and none of their singles and collaborations the past few years have really hooked me.
It's grown on me a lot. It's a lot at first, but I feel it's on-brand and ... actually good, or "comfortabe". I feel Ashbury Heights in general has been ahead of modern pop production and it's a weird tortured relationship they have. Like they're always going to be too alt to break into the mainstream, and that feels deliberate.

I randomly looked up what Kari Berg had been doing, and missed she'd been in a different project over ten years ago. She sounded fantastic in it, but ugh the music is so cheap sounding.

I wanted to love this:

lovely fan cut, but depressingly pointless cover:

Okay so doing amateur tributes is their thing?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXzOsQtAy9E

I think this might be their biggest unique track and it's ... fine. Just barely. Not going on any playlists.

Holy poo poo ... on a lark I requested Seabound and Covenant at a good Toronto karaoke bar my partner had been bringing me to. I thought there was a chance because they had some of my old alt-rock faves like Ned's Atomic Dustbin and PWEI, but they always had a few Assemblage 23 tracks.

But they filled in,

Seabound:

Castaway
Hooked
Poisonous Friend
Watching Over You
Without You (sidenote, I like this song, but it seems like a weirdly popular one I don't understand why)

Covenant:

Afterhours
Brave New World
Bullet
Call The Ships To Port
Dead Stars
Happy Man
Lightbringer
Ritual Noise
Stalker
The Last Dance
We Stand Alone

I like 3Teeth's EndEx but it's more of a mixed bag. Some great tracks though.

loving love mind.in.a.box's Black and White, but it's weirdly gone a bit in a prog direction.

Stumbled across in the meme thread lol. Maybe not the best place to share but it feels ... adjacent.

Makes me think of 00s electroclash, but also all the weird boy-girl electro-industrial scene bands ... Helalyn Flowers, Girl and the Robot, Ayria even...

Hyped for new TR/ST!!

Also looking forward to Ashbury Heights, Bootblacks, and Pitchfork as always. Gotten more into their late career path lately after bouncing off at first.

Geezus. My first time seeing them was their 20th anniversary tour. And I've worn earplugs to every single band ever since.

Boy this feels firmly as though it's from 1996... when major label alt-rock started getting a samey studio sheen.

I still need to watch Six Feet Under for the Battery Cage samples.

My main band for sample shock though is PWEI. Often caught me off guard, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest notably.

WHY DIDN'T ANY OF YOU MANIACS TELL ME THE NEW PROJECT PITCHFORK ALBUM DROPPED TODAY.

I completely missed this hype cycle. Two weeks ago:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnFwN3TjL8I

I follow bands on Facebook and it turns out they were posting about it for weeks, but the loving algorithm never shared them with me. I was literally on their official site yesterday trying to figure out if I can possibly see them this summer. Tour dates are up to date, but no news since 2018 or mention of Elysium.

Worn earplugs ever since kmfdm in 2003 but damage was done. Been to much louder shows since (My Bloody Valentine especially), but protected.

I used to use reusable Etymotic ones, ~$15 from Amazon. They advertise that they cut sound levels equally for music so you don't get that muffled foam feeling.

But for years now I've just been using my bluetooth earbuds, and tweak how much noise cancelling they do. They seem to work fantastically, and they're always on me

Holy poo poo. For episode #500, ID:YD has a three hour interview with Joakim Montelius and Eskil Simonsson.

quote:

From industrial to techno to EBM and from teenage friendships to major label deals to fractures within the band, Joakim and Eskil spent nearly three hours with us laying down what we hope stands as the definitive interview with this storied and beloved act.
Really looking forward to this.
