They probably couldn't tell the difference between the train approaching from behind and the moving train right next to them. This is why you don't walk on railroad tracks, especially when there's an active train moving on an adjacent rail.

MassivelyBuckNegro posted:idk about ships Yes - If they weren't locked together a substantial number of the containers on the starboard side would have gone overboard. Also apparently the locks they use on cargo ships are substantially stronger than what was posted about the ones used on trains - the two green containers on the far right have to be supporting most of the weight of the top of the two adjacent rows.

Jesus gently caress that guy had to have the most sheltered milquetoast upbringing - aside from "let's play hobos today and ride the rails to Montauk" the part where he doesn't run away from the rail worker and allows them to detain him until the cops show up? "Father always said to obey any authority figure and that advice has never steered me wrong before!" e: also isn't jumping off the train before it enters the rail yard (so you don't get arrested) literally the first rule of riding the rails? NoWake posted:The guys who hauled him away have a big stake in people not dying on their property. Imagine a toddler walking around your factory wearing pajamas and a cape, this guy is about one step away from that and should be treated as such. Oh I get it and I'm not trying to make excuses for him, but if you were in that situation would you just stand around waiting for the cops to show up when the rail workers have no authority to detain you? He can't even do stupid poo poo properly.

wgntv.com posted:To add insult to injury, it isn’t even their poop. For the last year, waste management facilities in New York and one in New Jersey have been shipping tons of biowaste — literally, tons — to Big Sky Environmental, a private landfill in Adamsville, Alabama. But in January, the neighboring town of West Jefferson filed an injunction against Big Sky to keep the sludge from being stored in a nearby rail yard. Can't help but wonder how many of the residents there were perfectly OK with this (no zoning laws) until a literal poo poo train got parked in their town.
