The only reason I know about this thread is because B4Ctom1's post about the derailment/collision a few pages ago was recently linked in the SA Quotes thread a while back. Anyway I was idly browsing imgur tonight and saw this, and I thought this might be the one place that appreciates it. It's not a locomotive, it's a grain car, but with artwork on the side: Thumbnailed due to painted buttocks:

I thought so too at first, but there's a big X-shaped sign on the left side of the road so I guess it's a legit crossing. I asked my friend what it was and it's this: http://www.arcadeandatticarr.com/

Love this quote from that article:quote:She added that the stranded seem to be embracing the situation, "Everyone's drinking. Mouthing off to cops. Stuffed collars in $10,000 suits sitting on the ground drinking lovely beer and eating pizza."

The passenger light rail in Chicago (CTA) recently upgraded some track with concrete ties instead of wooden ones. Are concrete ties ever used in heavier passenger/freight lines? Are they common?

And... Ofaloaf posted:They were built by the Holman Locomotive Company. I've no idea if they had any fancy name associated with them, but I'd be surprised if they didn't. I love that last locomotive there, looks like something I'd find in a cartoon from that era or shortly after.
