I play in 2 leagues. Ones intramural, so they provide the jerseys. The other requires one set of matching jerseys, and the league brings a spare set of reversible sweaters that they give out if theres a conflict. Also: gently caress REVERSIBLE JERSEYS

All 3 leagues I've played in provide 1 jersey for you. Usually they don't conflict with the other team's color since they plan that out ahead. That's not always the case though, and sometimes you have to wear a very dirty pinny above your regular jersey for those games. But I know some rinks require all their teams to figure out their own jersey needs, but I suspect thats the exception rather than the general rule. If you're signing up as a free agent and the rink assigns you, you're probably getting a rink jersey.

Speaking of jerseys, no one ever order from ijerseys.com. they've given my intramural team hell. Apparently ordering more than 1 blank jerseys in different sizes is a "custom order" and so takes 3 weeks to process. So now we might be stuck wearing long sleeve t-shirts with numbers duct taped to them until we can get the jerseys here and printed. Totally ridiculous and is really putting a damper on this season already, which starts Wednesday. Oh well I'm still super excited to play in a league for the first time.

Speaking of X:50's I stopped by Play it again to get my skates sharpened, and see if they have any good deals on vapors, and to check to see if I'm really a size 7.5. I measured my foot and tried on a pair of 7.5 vapors and I am indeed a 7.5. They fit fine, my toe didnt rub at all. Ive been wearing 8's for the last year and wondering if they were a tad too big. Any idea how this change would affect my skating? As for the skates they had all the vapors marked 35% off, and the only 7.5's they had were x50's which were marked at 449 plus the 35% off, and they said they would give me 40 for my x20's in trade. This was too good of a deal to pass up so I reserved them since I have to play tomorrow and wont have time to break them in. I'm excited.

Some guy on my playoff game skated right into my shoulder, full on headshot status, and he was on the ground grimacing with his eyes closed. I skated back to him to ask if he was ok, then looked at the ref who shrugged at me so I jumped back into the play (the other team had a delayed penalty). He got up and took 2 full on, but unsuccessful, runs at me. Made me angry I stopped to see if he was ok.

Got the last pair   No, I did not. As far as gloves, I have always had Mission brand really and my last pair that fit perfect were the 3 finger design, plus thumb. So the thumb, pointer, and middle finger were separate but ring and pinker shared a slot. I can not find these anywhere. It is one of those weird concepts that most hate but I have smaller hands and for some reason they offer more control. The pair I still have are a bit small and the palms are worn beyond belief. Any ideas? edit: they were mainly youth models so I doubt anything much is available now.

Any opinions on the quality/durability of the Sherwood T90s? I broke my previous stick, an ST Getzlaf 100, about a month back, and have been trying futilely to replace it with old POS sticks I have around the house, and it's really not working, and is hurting my game coming up on playoff time. Local shop has some T90s they're pushing pretty hard, and making pretty ridiculous claims about, and, since I can't afford a bunch of new sticks to try out (Just shelled out for a pair of Graf 735s) I'm interested in whether or not these sticks are the value the store claims they are. Otherwise, I might just stick with some old 9950s I have that aren't too bad until a sale or something.

Is $100 too much for a helmet for recreational no checking? The websites have Reebok 8k, Bauer 9100, and CCM Vapor 10 models for about that. Am I just paying for "10% lighter" and some kind of fancy lining at that point?

As long as it is certified it will be fine.

Except a higher price doesn't necessarily result in a safer helmet. There's a point where the component materials are upgraded.. no increase in safety, but an increase in other areas such as weight or comfort. Pay attention to the safety rating, not the sticker price.

I also am suddenly able to do hockey stops and crossovers on my non-dominant foot much better than with my old skates. I think it's a combination of a snugger fit and upgrading to a much better and stiffer skate.

Got a call from Hockey Monkey today. I almost pooped my pants when I saw a Southern Cal number pop up on my phone. Ugghhhh, they're sold out too? Why can't these fucks keep their stock up to date on their sites? : "Hello, I'm calling from Hockey Monkey just to let you know that we had to pull your Vapor X:50 skates from our warehouse in New Jersey. Does anyone play in the Inland Empire in southern California and have an opinion on which of our three rinks has the best clinics/whatever for new players? I played about 10 years ago but I was a goalie so..I don't really know too much about skating or puck handling. So consider me a player with no experience.

Having gone through this "return to the ice after a long break" business over the last couple months, I would suggest you start working on leg strength asap. The first month or so was crippling because I was using muscles I forgot I had.
