Why would they title the third segment of the Roadburn 2010 video retrospective 'a Yob well done' when there's virtually no YOB at all featured in it? For shame!

The new Atomic Bitchwax album "The Local Fuzz" is available on their website as a download for 9 bucks, and my first impression is that it kills. I was pretty disappointed by their last record, but this one is right up my alley. No vocals, no cheesy synths, and no real songs, just 42 minutes of back-to-back riffs. There are some general themes that they play around with, but most of the parts are very different, and it's hard to pick favourites. All the classic Bitchwax hallmarks are here: soaring leads, squelchy filtered bass licks and tricky drum patterns, and they even throw in some tasty organ.

Seconding the love for this record. Bought it at my local dealer with the comment that it's pure fusion jazz without the blowers or anything. I don't know thing one about fusion so I've no idea of this statement's accuracy but the album rules.

Well then, the new Bitchwax album is fuckin' awesome. Part of me thinks it'd be better broken up into a few tracks (there are obvious breaks, too) but on the other hand I kind of dig the old vinyl thing of having to listen to it all to find your 'favourite' bit.

Yeah, I can listen to it multiple times back to back without getting tired of any of it.

This is going to make me sound and look like a total cretin but here goes: I'm going to finally buy an electric guitar and learn playing it form scratch. This thread contains 99% of the music I absolutely adore and listen to a veritable shitload and I kinda want to buy an orange amp (together with an Epiphone). (I know that it'll cost me, but I've saved up for this purposefully and my mind's rather set on it.)

First off: does this idea suck total monkeyballs? If not, what would those of you with knowledge about this stuff recommend exactly? I'm mostly going to be playing at home, obviously, learning the ins and outs and all that. Thanks in advance!

And for some actual on-topic stuff: Going to see YOB and Dark Castle live October 15th here in Belgium, I'm so stoked. Also filling the bill are Kongh, Sardonis and Ultraphallus (these last two bands are Belgian, and pretty much kick rear end). Kongh is Swedish and I suppose most of you are already aware of them, yet I don't see them namedropped quite that often. They're very YOB-a-like in my opinion. Have some music:

Going to miss that awesome bus driver dude though.

EDIT: Gonna be my first Afterburner edition too, this iteration kind of beats every other single normal Roadburn day this year!

It's going to be interesting to see if they can deliver on those claims. I honestly can't imagine anything sounding better than the Tee Pee Dopesmoker release. It's kind of weird that they're including that "Holy Mountain" recording; I have a bootleg of that I-Beam show and I don't remember it being anything spectacular. There are other bootlegs from that same Hawkwind tour that are much better in my opinion, and it would have made a lot more sense for them to include one of the faster versions of "Dopesmoker" that the band played on that tour.

Yeah but is the Tee Pee recording still available somewhere? Right now I'm stuck with one measly Jerusalem CD so I'm getting this re-issue for sure.
