What the hell? Could they really be doing that? That is crazy. I know technology like Google Goggles exists and is quite impressive, but the normal phone app connecting and doing image recognition? I'm sure there would be some kind of privacy issue there. Edit: I have a feeling it a system bug of some kind, not related to what you are taking pictures of. That would be insane. Just got back from the AT&T store...drove there with all intentions to port from Sprint, grab the Nexus S and be out the door. I left empty handed though...still doubting AT&T and whether it's right for me. I asked (on purpose) the salesman if the tethering is free. He said no, you have to pay for it. I asked him why it's free on the Nexus S (T-Mobile and Sprint). He said it isn't and I corrected him by telling him it IS free and is a perk to the "Pure Google" experience. He said well, whatever, AT&T will be charging for it in the near future. He then pointed out all other Android phones and said well, they have to pay to tether so Nexus S owners will too. Ok bro, you're missing the point of Pure Google... I also inquired about the reception issues with the Nexus S and of course, deer in headlights. He also was tripping over his words when I asked about porting my 12-yr old number to GV via AT&T. I also thought it was interesting that he said the plan is $69 and unlimited data is only $10. I said "you mean the 4g surcharge is $10?" He said no, data is $10. Ah well...white flag and all... Lastly, he told me the port-in credit is only direct and Amazon doesn't qualify. I thought I'd have a bit of fun before I left by asking him if they would match Amazon's $99 deal for the Nexus S. He laughed, I laughed, I left. So, I really wanted to snuggle up to AT&T, but it just wasn't in the cards today. There seems to be too much uncertainty regarding the hotspot charge / no charge / etc. and at this point, people are hoping Google / Samsung fixes the "phantom" reception issues http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/27/engadget-investigates-samsung-nexus-s-4g-wimax-performance-issu/ I do realize the sales rep was poorly trained, but I didn't have much confidence in his sales pitch. Until then, I'll sit on the sidelines and watch how the Galaxy S II fares.

I had that model also, and probably still would if I was still on Verizon. Only reason you wouldn't be able to use an old phone is if it did not have the E911 location ability and you try to activate new service with it.

I just want poo poo to work and not worry about the hardware being outdated. I just talk, text, and email.

It can be hard to do a Transfer of Liability (TOL) with SERO accounts now. I recommend looking on the SprintUsers.com forum. For example: http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=221339 P.s. If you use any smartphone with an OS other than Windows 6, you get "Sero Premium" which is $40, and then add $10 more for Premium Data, which is only for 4G phones (oops, also the iPhone we're making this poo poo up as we go) Do you know that for sure? I haven't seen a definitive answer anywhere on whether the 4g surcharge is needed on SERO Premium plans for the iPhone.

When you've had the handset replaced did they replace the battery too, or use the same one?

I asked about the battery because if the contacts were bad it would make a lot of sense for the issue to persist despite replacing the phone itself. What about the battery cover? Do they change that? Just trying to think of anything that would stay the same, you never know...

Windows Phone 7 is a totally different operating system than Windows Mobile 6.5. it's actually programmed well and works! It's been smooth and bug free for me. I like it so far. If you do pick one up, I recommend installing the Zune software and connecting the phone to the computer right away. That way you can install the "Mango" 7.5 update which brings a lot of improvements. That being said, I still picked up insurance this time, as having so many hardware problems with an HTC Titan and Touch Pro, I still don't know if I trust stuff not to break(in the hardware sense).

They just call in the 1-800 number and switch you to premium there, and they should be able to take care of you.

The Arrive and Windows Phone really are nothing like the old phones. I understand if your experience is really soured though. I upgraded from a Touch Pro myself and love the Arrive. I've had it for two weeks now, so I've found enough that I'd like to have done differently, but I think any phone will be like that. Anyway, if you still don't want to try it, what is wrong with the LG Marquee? The hero is old and slow and people seem to complain about it all the time.
