Most people in the US - and absolutely everyone in Europe - have heard about Carl Barks and Don Rosa, but there are quite a lot of other good Donald Duck artists working in Europe. One of my personal favorites is Giovan Battista Carpi, who is particularly well-known for his literary adaptations. His classic Donald Duck adaptations of Les Misérables and War and Peace are being published in English just a few months from now.

Frank Miller's "Holy Terror" got mentioned in another thread, so it checked it out, and it has some of the worst art I have ever seen in my life. I can't even tell what's going on half the time.
