My favorite comic artists are dead. :(

Yep. . .

Herge was the reason I got into reading comics when I was a kid. I just love how simplistic yet elegant his style is. Herge was brilliant at painting a world, without leaving Belgium he managed to create exotic foreign vistas using photo-references.(he wasn't too good at portraying non-Belgians though)

I also think that Herge is brilliant at conveying motion and emotion, especially with Captain Haddock.

I wish I had some better examples, but I can't find much else right now that's not a cover.

I love his work - most of why I read Asterix was the art. Every feast and town scene had so much background stuff going on. Bard being choked, Dogmatix doing mischief, etc.

The beautiful thing about it is that in every single Asterix book there's a feast. At the end of every single one. And every time he creates a different scene and to be honest it never gets old. The background stuff is always different and entertaining and there is always a twist on the choking. Sure there are some similar ideas and situations that stays from picture to picture, but he really brings in fresh ideas and fun to each and every feast.

To add some content, here's some pages from Cameron Stewart:

I like this one because the 3rd panel has Doc Hero imagining himself in his magical helmet or whatever, shown in a way unique to comics.

Pretty sure this page is a metaphor for growing up in some way. I like it. From the building, pants-wetting terror of Doc Hero to the smug satisfaction at the end.

Is this from the Slaves of Mickey Eye? I really just want Seaguy Eternal to come out. Partially for more Cameron Stewart art.

Here's one of my favorite pages from Slaves of Mickey Eye #2. The sheer joy the jump conveys without even seeing Seaguy's face just makes it for me.

Worst arms and a RealDoll. Pat Chau or something.

Was this supposed to be Marvel's response to Goosebumps or something? Because that's one tagline away from being something RL Stein shat out in the 90's.

Also that art. I'm just trying to find what's terribly wrong with it and I've narrowed it down to everything.

Is this where we got some hilarious post explaining that it was on purpose, and that Miller's deconstructing his own work? Because I love those.

No it's because of 9/11. Seriously.

Every single Stardust comic could simultaneously be posted in the funny and badass threads. God bless that horrible creation. Yet I think the art's somewhat appealing in the very early comic sense. I could almost see pages of it in a folk art museum.

I love Richard Case's art on Doom Patrol. I'm sure it also has to do with the coloring and inking of the piece but I felt like his style really highlighted the other-worldliness of some of Morrison's out there ideas.

Especially when we finally got to look at the Ant Farm under the Pentagon.

The one with the killer dog was some recent dreadful Teen Titans run. So I guess they were exxxtreme wonder twins? I have no idea to be honest.

Hitman too! Thank God no-one remembers Bloodlines.

Good art, James Stokoe is doing a Godzilla comic starting August and :sbahj: it just looks amazing.

The sheer amount of detail present on the page is just jaw-dropping.

In that last panel Wolverine looks shocked that he has those big pointy things sticking out of his hands.

I really like the art in The Shade, except for the faces. They're just... weird looking in a way I can't really explain.

That honestly is just Frazer Irving's style. His faces have always been a little off, but his art always rises above that for me just because it's so atmospheric and creepy.

Blame Henry Peter Gyrich for that one. He said no Avengers you can not save the world and we are not allowing you to use any of your stuff.

What is Gyrich's problem anyway? Does he just hate the Avengers or is he just an rear end in a top hat?

All I hear online about Teen Titans Go is people complaining on Tumblr about how it isn't as deep as the Titans they grew up with, but usually whenever I see it it is something hilarious like that Sailor Moon sequence so I think those people just don't like fun.
