Before GTA, you ask anyone outside the us who doesnt care about it (ie: my parents) what areas they know of and you're going to get NY, Miami, Vegas, LA, San francisco, Florida & Texas.
Maybe washington. Maybe boston. I doubt they'd ever set one anywhere else. Same as you'd never get an open world game set in the north of the uk. It's london or bust.

graphical updates I should be aware of?

ENB series. Might take some time to get a nice config but after some playing around you can make it look pretty special.

enb is worth having a bash with if you're not already on it.

The stations have a few key points and whenever you get in a car it starts playing from one at random. I think you just got the same point a few times in a row.
I don't know why they couldn't keep the stations running when outside of a car, it's a stupid system.

The opening is great, it slows down in the middle, gets poo poo towards the end and the multiplayer (when it's on form) is loving astounding.

Actually that sort of thing sounds like it could be a mission structure, now that I think about it.

Pretty sure that was the whole point. You never have to do the boring bits, but it all makes sense that people are good at different things.

I'm interested to see how many of those missions we get. I know it cant be many but if they pull them off it could end up being something really quite special.

So I should try San Andreas then?

Why not 5? It's the best one. san andreas has aged really badly, it's clunky as hell, drags on & has random difficulty spikes all over the place. It's big, and impressive, but not a very streamlined game.
