Grem posted:Anyways, I think Funny Games fits into this category. Although there are some parts that may get into the tortureporn territory My read on the movie is that it's a direct response to torture porn as morally bankrupt. People watch movies like this to see a family terrorized and ripped apart, instead you don't see any violence on screen, only the emotional aftermath. This movie is not a fun watch by any stretch of the imagination, but it's also very worth watching because of it.

pigdog posted:The Orphanage Yes yes yes. This is a great movie, and the main premise is open enough to interpretation (are there really ghosts or is she just crazy?) that it stands up to subsequent rewatches. I highly recommend it. Having just finished the book, I finally got around to watching The Exorcist last night. What a fantastic movie. Tautly executed, tense throughout, stays amazingly true to the book (the screenplay was written by the original author), no jump scares just incredibly creepy and well acted.
