I pretty much have been upgrading every time it says there's an update for a few months and haven't had an issue yet. I update every 15 new commits or so, as that seems to be the time frame it takes me to actually load up Sickbeard (otherwise I just ignore it and it does it's thing). I've never had an issue thus far.

Adding a SSD to my HTPC drastically decreased the times it would take for images to appear while scrolling. I have fairly large libraries, though.

Heh, I configured Couch Potato wrong and it copied every file in my porn directory to \Angela's Ashes (1999) cd1.avi, cd2.avi, etc. 104 files, to be exact. I got it all named back, but it's pretty funny (and totally my fault).

If you haven't tried it in awhile, Couch Potato seems much more stable for me. I never had major issues, but it seemed janky compared to Sickbeard. The notification options and renaming stuff seems to be working nicely, though.

It fails when I try to get trailers for existing movies (the logs show that it matches the movies up with trailers on Apple's site, then fails when the actual download starts). Although I have the "download trailer" option checked, all I get for new movies is the nfo and tbn file. Also, why doesn't it write a XBMC specific nfo file? An implementation like SickBeard, where the user can choose the type of metadata to download, would be perfect. As an aside, I hope that the Sickbeard guys eventually roll in movies. I just like the way that app works better.

The nfo just seems wasteful. CP already knows the movie name and everything else, so why not just create the full nfo file for XBMC instead of relying upon XBMC to grab it later? Similar to the way SB writes the full nfo per episode, so updating the library goes quick when it's time to import those shows.

Settings > Qualities > Default Qualities has the CP version. With movies, it isn't as simple as SD vs HD, as there are multiple types of HD any particular user might want (Sickbeard actually allows the user to specify this as well).

Sickbeard can download SD first them replace it with the HD copy. I don't think it will save both though. Why would you want to do that?

It's not SAB's fault, but it really brings me down when a multi-rarset nzb fails to extract. This time it was the par sets not being correct, but it takes me back to 1999 or 2000 having to extract things manually. Gross! I had to redo my SABConnect chrome extension settings recently, and now it's not passing categories from nzbs.com. Where should I be looking to fix it?

Turn off post-processing for TV shows in SABNZBd Configure the autoProcessTV.cfg file that comes with Sickbeard, then move that folder somewhere that SAB has access to. In SAB > Config > Categories, assign sabToSickbeard.exe as the default script for your TV shows. In Sickbeard > Config > Post Processing, check to enable Rename Episodes. Scroll down and configure your metadata and naming preferences. That should do it!

Out of the 900gb I've downloaded from Astraweb (previously I was on Supernews, previous to that Astraweb which I cancelled due to many incomplete files), I've had to hit my Blocknews account for 500mb. Not too bad. Most of my failed entries are related to the NZB file having multiple PAR sets (which isn't SAB's fault, really).

It might be worth looking into if your router supports it (for dd-wrt I had to enable "dnsmasq" and configure an additional option like "address=/whatever.serveftp.net/192.168.1.5"). I know m0n0wall and pfSense has this feature as well.

This is probably not even remotely possible, but I figured I'd toss it out here anyway. Is there a way to make SAB download specific files? Say you have a multi-set nzb that contains a bunch of ISOs, but you want to download a specific ISO first. Is there a way to do this manually or automatically? My internet is super loving slow and waiting on a 20gb download sucks.

What do y'all do when you end up with a password protected file? I've tried googling around to find the password, as well as checking the comments on that particular nzb, but I've had no luck. Is there a recommended program for brute forcing the password? This one particular nzb is something my wife wants that I can't another version.

iOS app for CouchPotato was just released, albeit for jailbroken devices only. $2. So far I dig it. You can look at your watchlist, search for new movies, or look at a recent list of movies that are in theaters (I guess?). Adding movies to your watchlist prompts you for the quality you want to look for it in, including any custom qualities you've built. It'll be way easier to add movies using my phone now, which is almost the only time I think about using CouchPotato.

When I do that, all I get is a prompt for finding more local images. Is there some sort of add-on that lets you browse remote images? Sorry for seeming so dumb, but I've always wanted this feature since I moved from Meedio to XBMC.

He's back, so there should be some updates coming down the pipeline.

Will $11/mo hold you back from a car? If not, get Supernews. Then install SAB + Sickbeard, and you'll have an automated TV solution. Add Couch Potato for movies. As far as indexers, I believe nzb.su is still open registration, although you'll have to kick in some money if you need a bunch of nzbs per month.
