Madkal posted:Admittedly I haven't seen JoJo Rabbit yet (between the criticism of the film that I have read and just having finished some very heavy reading about the Holocaust seeing the movie that the AV Club compared to Life is Beautiful didn't really appeal to me) but I would say What We Do in Shadows best exemplifies Taika's humour. The movie is so consistently funny that it really earns your attention with the more emotional beats. It’s a really satisfying watch.

If it didn’t have that zoom in, an avatar of Neon Noodle would be perfect. Snake Eyes is a pretty great one too.

It comes up every time Spiderverse is discussed: The main event book was not good, but a lot of the tie ins were really quite good.

Yvonmukluk posted:Honestly as much as people poo poo on the Spider-Man 9/11 issue (or to be more precise, that one page), it's worth remembering that JMS & Marvel are based in New York, so it's more he was working through his own feelings. I dunno, I feel like the issue as a whole at least rings true, as opposed to the stuff Shmorky was parodying. And John Romita Jr is about as New York as you can get.

It's a really good book. We'll have to wait for part two, but I think this is going to be a modern classic Superman story.
