bobkatt013 posted:Mark Waid really is the best. He is in my top 5 current writers. I got to meet him once years ago and he was just a big ol' fanboy, and I mean that in the best way. He just wanted to talk about comics and how awesome they were and how cool it was to get to write comics. He saw me walking by with a bunch of back issues and called me over because he wanted to see what I'd bought

Similar to that, Galactus learns something new about his future and reveals something he's always dreaded in FF#16 I find it very heartwarming, and I love that last line.

Glitterbomber posted:Yea Supernatural's Death is one of my favorites, he does the whole 'yea I have the power to kill you, I can do that to anyone at any time, it's mundane to me, relax' thing really well. He gets a few really good speeches too where he basically tells people to shut their holes because death gives zero fucks about god and demons and the grand plan for things. I stopped watching Supernatural after the Four Horsemen/Lucifer season because, seriously, the show was NEVER going to get any better than that. The Death episode was absolutely spectacular, I love how completely out of everybody's league he is. When he mutters irritably about being constrained by Lucifer who he considers a prattling child, that was pretty chilling, but my favorite exchange is probably (paraphrased): Death: God and I are so old, we forget which of us is older. Nevertheless, one day I shall kill him too. Dean: ....you're... going to kill God? Death: Of course. Why not?

Another sweet Fantastic Four moment I always enjoyed - for backstory, this is from the Fantastic Four vs. X-Men mini-series, in which Kitty Pryde has lost control of her phasing power and looks set to drift away into nothingness. Reed has discovered an old journal he has no memory of writing that claims he knowingly flew himself, Sue, Ben and Johnny into the storm of Cosmic Rays, which has hugely strained relations within the group. Since Reed is basically falling apart the X-Men have turned to Doctor Doom to try and save Kitty. Mr. Maltose posted:Go read The Death of Captain Marvel. A scene from that book I've always loved is when Thanos tears the sheets off of Captain Marvel's bed and he's perfectly fine. Something akin to the following exchange happens. Captain Marvel: The greatest minds of Earth couldn't save me, and now you just fix me like that? Thanos: Of course. I am Thanos. It's also a really sweet moment, seeing Thanos and Death escort Captain Marvel into the afterlife as friends
