Whatever you're planning on bringing, cut that amount in half. Consolidate as much as you can. Don't bring records/CDs, burn them to MP3s. Don't bring DVDs, you probably have a Redbox around. Don't bring furniture. Do bring/buy a bike with a good chain lock (or other such wheeled non-car transportation). If you're allowed to have a car, it'll make your life a lot easier, otherwise, you're going to be bumming rides off older friends forever (or taking the bus). You can leave your door open when you're there, but if you even so much as step out for 5 minutes, lock it. Dorm people are dicks.
