4000 Dollar Suit posted:This is probably crazy but is there anything that will allow my jailbroken itouch 4 to be able to download files like .zips and poo poo? I don't need them to be opened just downloaded and transferred to my computer later. Use a combo of iCab (browser) and Dropbox. Which is to say iCab already has Dropbox integration and it's super easy

What's everybody using for a lockscreen these days? I alternate between typophone and slanted because I kind of like how gaudy they are, but does anybody else have suggestions? All I really want is the weather.

I don't usually like most themes but I've been using glasklart since its fairly minimalist, and with a black and white background image it looks pretty good.

I'm going to assume this is jailbreak related, but it seems like the big buttons (like when getting a call to pick up or ignore, or the set wallpaper buttons) don't trigger or have the wrong I guess activation area. Anybody run into something like this?

Feenix posted:Yes. I did. And others did too. I am not 100% sure what fixed it, as this was a while ago for me. HOWEVER, I seem to hazily recall investigating Activator and not having any like, gestures active that involved the bottom of the screen. (Like swipe up from bottom, or something?) I removed all of those and I think it worked?

So the lock button on my 4 is getting sticky. I'm gonna get it swapped at the fruit stand but I'm assuming I'm going to get a 5.1 device. Is there an untethered jailbreak out for the regular 4? Also am I going to lose all my texts and stuff or is it all on iCloud? edit: of course I back everything up nightly so I mean can I just unjailbreak bring it in and then rejailbreak once I get out of there? edit2: Jailbreak matrix says there's only a tethered out so I'm assuming I can only use 5.1 since the shsh won't be backed up? What's the jury on spite/spire? I went through a guide but it started throwing errors while grabbing some ruby stuff and I couldn't fix it. So is it worth debugging?

I'm using this guide http://www.ijailbreak.com/cydia/setup-a-siri-proxy-server-for-spire/ and it keeps making GBS threads itself after step 4 when it tries to get ruby-rvm any tips? edit: I forget the exact error but i'm pretty sure one of them was somehow not having permission to modify usr/sources and not having access to group "admins" on a fresh install of the latest ubuntu on virtualbox Casual Encountess fucked around with this message at 01:19 on May 15, 2012 |

Is there a way either jb or non to get Siri to automatically read back texts when I have headphones in?

I already know how to get her to read it back. I meant without having to ask "what was my last text?"

Sweet. I'll check it out. The idea is I spend a large chunk of the day on a bicycle. So I'm trying to avoid pulling my phone out in traffic as much as possible.

I honestly don't understand people who have trouble with talking to Siri. I have a very heavy Boston accent and while I spent the first two weeks correcting text I basically have flawless dictation now while riding my bike.

Has anything new and shiny come out? I've been jail broken for forever and it seems like I haven't had anything new or interesting to install in months. I think the last thing I installed was barrel. I have a siri proxy setup too but I feel like nothing cool has come out for a while. I mean intelliscreen and all that lock screen stuff was all the rage a year ago but I haven't seen anything recently quite so dramatic.

Is the tethered 4 jb for 6 worth using? I just got my phone swapped out and I'm probably going to get a 5 pretty soon but even with the new 6.0 stuff I'm missing not using BiteSMS. Is it still throwing the white icons thing?

After upgrading to iOS 6 and jailbreaking I got BiteSMS back. I only have one problem. For whatever reason facebook sync went nuts on my address book and I have a million useless contacts. I unchecked the fb part in the phone app but BiteSMS is pulling up every person named "Steve" when I type it in. Outside of manually deleting it how do I kill all the fb contacts?

I'm really happy cydia has saved all my shsh's for my 4. I mean I could theoretically restore all the way back to what, iOS 4 if I wanted to. That being said has the list of iOS 6 compatible jailbreaks been updated? I have a few core things but pretty much nobody really fixed functionality. I mean my favorite jailbreak app is BiteSMS and it shits itself and crashes Springboard even with the update but I'd like to get back to gridlock and springtomize.

Na'at posted:It let's you download specific layouts and then it will organize your apps accordingly. I used to use Gridlock but really I just made two columns of apps one on either side of the screen for vertical scrolling. For my uses it's much better. Sweet sassy molassy. I found Iconoclasm pretty difficult to use off the bat (You have to go to Cydia to download new layouts) but I downloaded another app called "Iconoclasm Layout Maker" and its goddamn perfect. You can load up your current wallpaper and arrange the icons accordingly however you want, since almost all the cydia layouts are super dumb and I managed to not find the one thing I was looking for (4x1 right justified) but the layout app makes this the easiest thing in the world. Owns.

You guys need to stop spergin about services. The entire point of iOS is you specifically DON'T need to manage this poo poo. Futzing around with possibly critical files is a dumb thing as is trying to manage battery/ram. Unlike our counterparts there's really nothing wrong in terms of resource management. Maybe pre-4 but not anymore. Stop sperging. I mean the android thread is right over there.

So I know other people have brought this up but my "other" category is at 5 gigs. I ran both cleaners and it hasn't done much. I'm betting I need to restore or something? I'm also tempted to jump on the beta bandwagon because I've only jailbroke the past 2 OS versions for BiteSMS. I'm running a GSM 4 on 6.1 incidentally.
