I record myself and listen back, sing along to scales, took lessons until they became too expensive. I have a naturally low voice too which doesn't help, especially for pop tunes. I really want to sing, I just don't get how to do it. I'll keep practicing, no idea if I'll ever actually get it though. You had professional singing lessons hence you actually don't really need my advise because I'm shure your teacher mentioned this: Your are not missing notes all the time in the sense of hitting wrong notes but you are missing to sing all the notes there are in a melody. That's why you sound monotonous, because it literally is. I have the same problem and I found it often helps to play only the vocal line on the guitar or piano and sing along with that. Then you will notice if all the notes are actually coming out of your mouth or just a few of them. I'm more passionate than musically gifted so likely I won't notice that "in the mix" with the chords because it never sounds really off. I sometimes count the notes in a tune and countercheck that with the number of notes I have sung. This approach is different from the feeling of a natural musical genius but also leads so reasonable results.
