Bloodplay it again posted:Most of the vgm records are ridiculously expensive. I am strongly considering selling a large chunk of my collection to help pay for wedding rings. If you're seriously considering selling some of your video game records, please post a link in this thread, as I may be interested in buying some off of you! Also, hello thread! I am just getting into vinyl, namely for video game soundtracks and retro Japanese city pop. My first addition to my collection (Paradise Killer OST) arrived last week, and I'm really excited to finish up my setup. As I'm new to the scene and have broken ears (I don't have the 'audio knowhow' to pick out differences in sound quality, warmer vs cooler, stereo vs. bass, etc.) I'm starting off with the recommended basic player. I'll probably poke back into the thread to get some recommendations for basic-but-good quality speakers as well. https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Techni...653279458&psc=1

This is the only gimmick CD I have. D: Apologies if this isn't vinyl-specific, but I'm going to use my tax return on a basic-but-good-quality speaker set for my vinyl player. Anyone have any experience with this one? Keep in mind, I'm not an audiophile and this is just a basic starter setup for now. https://www.amazon.com/Edifier-R128...18432764&sr=8-1

Bloodplay it again posted:A handful of good labels worth checking out: Ship to Shore is actually how I got my first vinyl (Paradise Killer OST) and they have been my favorite so far! They just shipped my Piper album. I'm bummed I missed out on the Guacamelee OST. Had no idea they had vinyl, I'll check this out! Fangamer has a ton of OSTs I'd be interested in, but they seem slow to restock (I buy other merch from them). I'm glad they have a wishlist feature though, I'm swooping on Silent Hill 2, Banjo Kazooie, and Slime Rancher once those get restocked. The Katamari Damacy first press is over $200 now for some reason. Ah, I'd love to buy this from you, but I can only offer $70 (plus shipping). Do post a Google doc or something of the ones you're willing to sell, though.

Please be kind to a dumb beginner: does region matter for vinyl like it does for video games or movies, or am I safe to import away? A quick Google says the answer is "no", but I figured I'd ask the experts.

BigFactory posted:The whole video game music on lp kinda misses me, though. Is it more of a collecting thing like video game or sports memorabilia and less of a music thing? Nothing wrong with it if that’s what it is, there just seems to be so much interest. For me, I find myself listening to a lot of instrumental music at work (Too many English vocals distract me sometimes), which includes video game soundtracks. I've been listening to the Paradise Killer soundtrack since I got the game in fall 2020, so that ended up being my first vinyl. So while I'm sure plenty of folks buy the OSTs for collector or resale purposes, I definitely listen to the game soundtracks I buy. I don't have a "music center" set up yet, but I saw this on Reddit and was thinking of copying the layout a bit. It's a little "modern" for me (I prefer more of a rustic vibe), but haven't really found much inspiration in that style. https://www.reddit.com/r/vinyl/comments/njku2b/slapped_some_led_lights_on_the_back_of_my_setup/ Any of y'all feel like sharing your setups?

Ooh, these are lovely, thanks for sharing! I definitely prefer something like this to the more sleek, "Apple store" look of the one I posted, so this was a great springboard. And yeah, it's going in a pretty small room (spare bedroom) for now. The warning about this only being viable for a small collection is spooking me though, as I already have close to 50 records and it's only been a couple of months. :P My fault for being into so many genres, I guess! I love the fact that appears to be a cat...posing for a picture...by a photo of the same cat? Cat says "Forget the room, clearly you're here to see ME!"
